Anyone try an Ashdown RM-610T sealed cab?

Anyone have real world experience with an Ashdown Engineering Rootmaster RM-610T? It is listed as a sealed 610 with what looks like a adjustable tweeter. Only 81 pounds.

Could this be a decent lower cost NV610?

Also interested....would like to know a few more specs too...not much listed on the ashdown website. Not a big fan of grille clothe though, especially on a cab that big. You sneeze and that thing'll rip (does look cool though)

I'd wager you're right. I've had a range of Ashdown cabs none of them braced. Not always an issue in my experience though

I emailed Ashdown and KORG USA for more specifications.

I doubt they sound too similar as Bergantino and Ashdown have different tonal goals. However, I am sure it sounds good and would be a worthy alternative.

At 649.99 it costs less than a lot of 410's. At that price point I'd be hesitant to purchase for quality reasons.

On the flipside, a 610 that weighs less than 100 lbs and costs less than $1000 sure is tempting.

If we are talking about the ABM series, I totally agree, but do you think the RM series are aiming at the same tone?

I think the RM line is pretty much just supposed to be a less expensive alternative to get Ashdown products. Upon looking at the specs, I think the Berg will probably play lower, and have a better high frequency response and crossover.

I sure would like to hear these before gambling on buying one. If it needed bracing and batting, that would be a fairly easy fix.

The ABM has a very different cabinet shape and speakers are not the same. I doubt that it is a similarly designed cab.

That was me - it's what someone at Ashdown told me at the beginning of the year. It's entirely possible they took the ABM cab and engineered it down a cost grade or two and then for ease of explanation called it rebadged to me

Nope, not seen any near me to try I'm afraid! I have the RM-110 cab but that has a different (coax) driver in it. And it's significantly smaller haha

The ABM 610 was only $150 more at Sam Ash. I got two and they sound like my old SVT cabinets. They weigh about 115 lbs.,have dividers between each pair of speakers. They are constructed of 3/4" birch plywood. These RM 610s look good on paper (except the wheels are too close together). How they got the weight down is a mystery to me.

You could try asking on other forums based in countries where Ashdown is more of a common sight, such as basschat.co.uk, finnbass.com and ozbassforum.com (I don't think it was against the rules for me to point it out; uncool maybe, but hey, if it does the trick...)

Not played one of these but I'm an ABM610 user and these are great cabinets. I hear what people are saying about the comparison with older 810's too, although I haven't used it with a tube amp. Ashdown JJ-500 on top of mine and couldn't wish for more!
