That model is rare, I am very curious to know what it sounds like.I posted this a minute ago as its own thread. Then I found you guys maybe you guys can help me with this.
When I was a kid in high school a friend of mine who was older and in a band bought an Aria Pro II SB ELITE II. This was the one that Rudy Sarzo used to pitch in the guitar mags of the day. Back then the pros didnt hawk Epiphones and went for the classy axes. Anyway I hated the guy as I was always a big Rudy fan. Later on as became more of a pro myself I learned that these basses were hard to find as I never came across another. Now that I am 35 I ran into my friend at show he was playing in local club. I notice that he was playing some cheap Ibanez piece of **** so I asked him where the Aria was and he said he was going to sell it on ebay. I offered to buy it on the spot and got it for $350. The guitar is in great shape and has very little in the way of visible defects. The bass was purchased brand new in 1986 or 87 and was well taken care of. The only thing missing on it is the truss rod cover which I know was brass but I dont if the model was engraved on it. I contacted Aria but they said there was no way they still had any of these. A friend of mine said he would machine one for me if he could see a picture of one. I went all over the net but have yet to find a clear image of this part. Another odd thing is that I cant find a serial number on this thing. I also wouldnt mind knowing the manufacturer of the bridge as the saddles are starting to slightly burr after 20 years. It is finished in Padouk Red with all gold hardware just like the ones that Rudy used. It has the maple/walnut transmit neck but I dont know what the body wings are. The most I have learned is that they were ash or alder but without a serial number I have no way of telling which. Any answers will be very appreciated. Thanks for any help!!!

I too would like to know a little more about the bridges the mridge on mine is pretty corroded. If I can't bring it back to life I may try to pick up a replacement.
I saw a nice bridge on ebay recently! But, why couldn't you polish the old one up and re-varnish it? (Or what ever they coated it with.)
Cool. I think you said that is the original pup, and all you had to do was fix a pot?
I am thinking it's going to sound like my SB1000.

had to replace the volume pot as well as the jack. original switch & tone control were alright, although they could use some cleaner.
i ran the aria through a sansamp, although it's a dry signal so may sound a little plain to some. there are four clips:
1) vol/10 tone/10 switch position 1
2) vol/10 tone/zero position 1
3) vol/10 tone/10 position 2
4) vol/10 tone/zero position 2
the recordings don't really do it justice. sounds much cooler, even through my 30 watt practice amp.
i'm not too keen on the 1-3/4" nut width though. may end up flipping the bass if I can't get used to the nut width (I know, I know you're thinking "just be a man", but I've gotten pretty picky about my basses recently.)
Other than the nut width, I like everything about the bass. Right now the action is super low (if I keep it, I'll raise it) and the neck around the 20th fret is only 2-1/8" inch! Super fast and easy to play in the upper registers.
Does anyone know if Aria made a similar bass but with a 1-1/2" nut width??
Thanks so much for posting those sound clips, circuitspore! I absolutely love Option 4. That, for me, is one of the classic Aria Pro II (Matsumoku era) tones. It's very similar to the one I get when I solo the bridge pickup of my TSB-400. Very cool. It's still one of my very favourite recording tones.
I'm really hoping to get my hands on one of those single-pickup TSB's one of these days. I'm glad you got that pot fixed!

Gee, I'm just toodling around on eBay and I see this sweet little hollowbody that just has 'that look' that I'm searching for for this tribute band (that old time rock mojo). I figure -- it's cheap (I picked it up for minimum bid -- a couple of bills) and in sweet shape. I'm hoping I can't lose on this one. Anyone ever play one of these?

Hey everybody, I thought you guys might want to hear what my SB1000 sounds like. I'm running it in active mode in the first position.
Before the song starts you are hearing the camera mic picking up my M-Audio BX5's and some of the acoustic sound. After the song starts you are hearing what I recorded in ProTools through an Art Tube preamp and an Alesis Nano compresssor into an Mbox. It's still live, I just lined up the audio to match in Sony Vegas after the fact. I was getting way too much acoustic sound when I slapped so I decided to go that route instead.
Fresh DR Lo-Riders as well.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone had tried any of the newer Integra 5 string basses out there? On ariaguitars.com, English version, they have the 35/5, while the Japanese version has the 505 which appears to be the same model but with a studier looking bridge.
Any reviews on these (or other IGB 5 strings)?

Finally got around to getting the camera out on Saturday & taking advantage of our gorgeous spring weather...
First up, the most recent acquisition, a 1983 RSB Special-1.
(The Bit On The Side)
This has had an unkind life up to now, being resident in a school music room & then some chap's attic until about 3 weeks ago when I picked it up off the Bay for £50. I'm ordering a new MB-IV from Aaron Armstrong to fill the hole, but this is growing on me as a players' instrument.
BayBuy No. 2 - 1984 RSB Deluxe-5...

Completely stock apart from fitting a TremNut, now tuned high-C.
Fast & comfortable now that I've discovered Warwick Yellow Label strings.
I may change the string retainers for some neater roller ones, but only if I go ahead with fitting a Kahler.
Speaking of Whammy Bars - meet the Wife...

As you can see, she's had a few mods over our 25-year affair, some of which haven't worked out (mainly experimentations with home-grown actives, hence the extra holes). The Kahler is a mod that always raises consternated eybrows (esp. from guit*rists) until people try it out. I wouldn't be without it. The other mod is to the bridge pickup where I've added an extra set of pole pieces for a tad more bite. The original bobbin was already moulded for these, so fitting was a fairly simple affair.
Off-camera is an SB-1000 that's being subjected to a fretless conversion, it's not quite fit for public appearances yet but will appear when I'm ready to refinish it.
