Atkinson basses... who owns one?

bass27-1.jpg

Wow. Im speechless.

Owning both a Fender 5 string Jazz & the new Atkinson hollow Jazz 5 ,I can say that the Atkinson's DiMarzio Ultra Jazz pups & perhaps the hollow body as well contribute to a huge bottom end. They provide much more available bottom than the stock Fender pups. I also use flat wound strings which accentuate that aspect of it's sound. I'll try to give you the string spacing specs today at some point.

Yeah even with my little computer speakers I thought the tone sounded deep and rich. Congrats on the bass!

Designing your own bass is a big part of the whole thing. Of course having Dan do all the work makes it that much better. We've all played a lot of Fender basses & know what we like and don't like about them. Dan gives us a chance to put all the good things in one bass. Plus you get to choose the color, finish, pickguard, electronics & hardware. The price is VERY reasonable & he doesn't take forever. What else is there?

I could not agree more. A few months ago I contacted Dan about putting a bass together. It was a very positive experience. When the bass arrived it had some fit and finish issues that I could not get pass. Dan was very cool about the whole thing and refunded my purchase price. While that particular bass was not for me, I would not hesitate to do business with Dan again. He is a stand up individual and he is building some very nice instruments.
