I was just looking at the USACG site, and regular maple, fender headstock's were available. You must have been looking at birdseye, or flamed maple...

I know one thing for sure I will be ordering one of Dan's basses before i ever buy another higher end Fender again. I don't normally do that and the last was a 73' all original telecaster. I need a 51 P but i want a slab no belly cut or contour light relic please. Can you do a slab 51 Dan?

I'd love a 4 string vintage style jazz which sounds warm, feels friendly, and resonates nicely when unplugged. These are some of the descriptions I've read about Dan's builds which is what has drawn me to him.

Nitro 60's style sunburst
60's pickup placement
Vintage tint on neck
Rosewood board
Tall, elephant tuners w/ exposed gears
USACG neck upgrade (flattish not chunky) vintage Fender spec. radius
No logo on headstock - toying with the idea
Tort Guard
3 knob control plate
Spiral bridge
Pickups somewhere between warm and edgy - maybe Lollars or Fralins?
Maybe some light relicing in the chrome hardware to tone down the glare

Now, here's the kicker: I might want this to be fretless, but I haven't decided. Some of the other details might change as well.

Depends a lot on your playing position. I'm tall, have really long arms,and play pretty low....so a slab doesn't bother me at all. If I played with the bass higher, I'd definitely need contours.

Yeah, I used to own a '69 Tele & it was a slab. I'm 6'6" but the edge still got a bit rough on my arm.

Your video demos sound excellent. May I ask your signal chain? Are you using the NA320 and the LDS? How are you capturing the sound (mics and preamps and whatnots?). You really do nail the vintage tone with your playing and your basses. You don't have to reveal all your secrets, though
