AudioKinesis Cabs Part VI...

When I think of AudioKinesis cabs, I think of small but mighty over-achievers, not goofy sidekicks.

Maybe Mary Lou Retton, Mighty Mouse or Gandhi, but definitely not Chester...

Bass content: I ran my first-gen 4 ohm TC112 AF last night, driving it with the Dingwall ABZ and G-K MB Fusion. Large room, more or less unplugged setting. Acoustic guitars, cajon, plus amplified bass and lead vocal. About twenty people singing along enthusiastically.

In that setting, you could hear every little detail. The growl and and harmonic complexity of both the ABZ and the Fusion came through in spades. Absolutely mind-blowing. This really is my desert-island rig...

...Well OK, I guess I'd need some solar panels or a Honda generator to power it all!

I want to get one 1855.... I would use two of my Fave amps.. my old fender TB1200... and for clean i would use my Alembic F2B into a Carvin DCM 1500 or old Crown amp....Id bet a Carvin BX1600 would drive it real nice

Roscoes are the nicest-playing parallel-fret basses I've played in years, at least in terms of what happens to float my particular boat. If fanned fret basses, and Dingwalls in particular, didn't exist I would be jonesing after one something awful.

The beautiful thing about the ABZ is that although it isn't as gonzo boutique-beautiful as a Roscoe (or the upper Dingwall models), it sounds even better, and costs at least a grand or two less.

Still, you should just shut up and enjoy your Roscoe (and your beautiful AudioKinesis cabs). So there. :woot:

A lot would depend on your tone goals, how loud you want to play (now + future), what bass(es) & any other equipment (pedals, synth bass, etc...) you use, the type of music you want to play, & how much you're willing to futz with EQ settings.

Detune low 'B' on a Roscoe 5 string down to 'A' (or lower) into a Genz Streamliner 900 into a 4 Ohm Hathor 1855 (based purely on speculation) would probably 'brown note' everyone within a 1 mile radius...DependsTM...

PMed Tom last night and he has,t used it in a while>Its been at one of his practice spaces and the last time he used it he told me he used a Mesa Walkabout Head for power.So many choices !!!

At the Seattle GTG we used a G-K 700RBII through it for a while, seemed to work great. The rest of the time we used my 1000 watt @4 ohm plate amp with it, which pretty much kicked butt.
