AudioKinesis Cabs Part VI...

Have you had a chance to spend a couple of hours with the new H1203 stack?

Yes. Gigged one last weekend. With a Mesa D800. With my L2k in single coil mode. Not bad. Not bad at all.

I started with the top switch up and bottom switch down. I ended with both switches down. I had to deal with a family emergency right before the gig and in my haste packing for the gig forgot the port plugs. Oh well. There's more gigs. I also wanted to try different amps but just grabbed what was closest when packing.

Very responsive to any EQing. Which is a sign if a top notch cab, IMO. Detailed yet not sterile. At home the Magellan sounds reeaalll good with the 1203. Next gig!

Stay tuned.... Though needless to say the cab sounds fantastic and I'm very very pleased.

Anybody know if @DukeLeJeune is still making the Hathor 1504? Did I read he's not making them?
Thank-you for the report on your new Hathors. I trust I'll have a couple of my own fairly soon. They'll be paired with a new D800 ( first foray into class D territory. )
The 1504 has been superseded by the 1505. I nearly ordered a 1505 instead of an additional 1203 but at the last second decided to double down on my commitment to smaller & lighter.

Ordered my first Hathor 1203 yesterday - very excited. I will buy a second one if the first doesn't play
nicely with my Baer ML112. I am envisioning a rotating modular setup between the two for my various gigs and will be rocking these with either my new Quilter BB800(which I love) or my Tech21 dUg Ultrabass 1000(which I love a little more) depending....
Spoke to Duke yesterday and just the nicest guy, couldn't wait to give him my money.

Peace

I also placed an order for a H1203 yesterday! Currently, when we play our smallest stages/rooms I can get by going straight to the board with some bass in my monitor. I am very interested to see how much of a difference a single 1203 makes on these gigs. So this will be my new "small" rig. Question is, will I want a second one to replace my "medium" rig - my trusty old Berg HT310? I already know the the TB collective response would be!

I haven't seen a price on the new H1505 yet. If I had a chance, I would ask around for those who made the switch to a single H1505 to see if they prefer it to the 2 x H1203's. Seems to me you're losing mobility and modularity. I can use one cab and my GK MB200 for small shows or 2 x H1203's and my GK MB500 for larger shows. Just a thought....

Does anyone have a suggestion on speaker cab covers for my H1203's? I need two covers.

Don't get me wrong, I love my stack of 1203s. It's just that I'm not playing much these days outside of the house and could use some cash. So I might be forced to sell one of my 1203s. I'm wondering if I could sell both, get a 1505 and still manage to pocket some cash. I'd love to hear comparisons of the 1505 to the 1203/a pair of 1203s though.

Might ask @Passinwind or @Marial . They seem to have a pretty good handle on the different cabs. If not, they know others who do...

How old are your cabs? Even though they're jewels, there's a diminishing return on anything as it ages, and its condition.

I'm interested just for kicks on how the 2 x H1203's and 1 x H1505 compare myself. Although I'm very happy with the H1203's....

Used pricing is a total crap shoot. My experience has been pretty dismal. Unless someone knows how good a cab the 1203 is or has at least heard of AudioKinesis things we've discussed earlier in the thread come into play: Duke's cabs have a homemade/prototype appearance to them and there is no badging/branding.

I don't know the price for a new 1505, but my guess is that you would not end up pocketing any cash.

I have not yet heard the 1505, and only heard the 1203 pretty briefly and sporadically at the second to last Seattle GTG. I can always ask
@tombowlus though...
