AudioKinesis Cabs Part VI...

Totally forgot about the switches on the back of my TC112v3....was having a difficult time hearing myself while running sound check for a new show going up.....flipped the mid switch up and instant fix. Totally amazing. It's like I brought a different cab in to try. I don't know another cab with this kind of flexibility. So good.

That would really stretch my woodworking skills, but it's not out of the question. But first I want to get a few other products developed, as I have ideas that imo are more likely to result in something that isn't really available elsewhere.

At this point it looks like there will be two 18" Hathor cabs, one with a single midrange, and one with a midrange + tweeter section.

Nope, that day may come, but for now I'm not looking to establish a dealer network... got plenty of orders as it is.

fwiw, i've heard that there will an ak of some nature at kalium strings, booth 1024.

the guy who told me this (not a kalium guy) said he thought it was an 18 and 4x3 (just quoting, doesn't make sense to me, and he thought it might be a hathor 1203 . . . haha).

anyhoo, if you're at the show and wanna hear something ak (i assume it is an 18, as they're doing stuff an octave below standard e on a 4-string), there's a place to do it (i think).

Hope it's not part of Skip's rig that got destroyed in shipping yesterday.

I felt like there needed to be a cab on the market that could come reasonably close to doing the first overtone of Skip's sub contra Quake bass (tuned to G#00, or 13 Hz fundamental, 26 Hz first overtone), so I ordered this expensive semi-custom 18" prosound neodymium woofer from Germany that claimed something like 22 mm of x-max and had a response curve that looked pretty decent. Added four of the little 3" cones to give it some top end. Sent the prototype to Skip and unfortunately the real-world excursion-limited power handling fell a bit short of what I'd hoped (perhaps the excursion claim was a bit optimistic?), so Skip's cab is the one and only of its kind. Had it met all expectations, it would still need EQ to hit 26 Hz, plus high-pass filtering to protect it from the fundamentals. Very glad to see Skip finds it useful.

That makes me sick, whether or not my cab was involved.
