Starting to think I'll lean towards the TC's. Maybe 2 x 112 instead of a single 212 cab.
And only because I'm still considering running amp/cab emulation through it, so the idea of it being as "honest" as possible is appealing. I can make the TC sound like it has an 810 scoop if I need to.
Sounds like my concerns around drives sounding awful through horns is unfounded here.

I love stereo rigs, and/or the ability to have one cab at a practice location and one at home, so I'd roll like that too. IMHO any really good drive pedal should have post-distortion EQ built in to allow killing spittiness. Virtually every modeler I've used or seen does, in any case.

In my case too I'm so used to rolling with a 212 or 610 (larger cabs) so downsizing to a single 112 concerns me. I'm not playing in 5 piece heavy rock bands at the moment (playing in a 3 piece electro/pop band instead) so the combined speaker area/volume isn't as much of an issue at rehearsals. It's more I'd like the extra 112 there so I can take it to larger rehearsals or shows in the future. Especially allowing for the fact if I want to order another, I have a long lead time ahead of me in terms of building and shipping to Down Under.

And yep, you're right. Most of the time I'm running a LPF/HPF in the chain early on anyway to take out a lot of the unnecessary high content, and the HX Stomp has a Global EQ that I can use to tame the final output if it's a real problem.

I find my single TC112 adequate for up to medium-sized venues at moderate volume - big low end for a single driver with the ports open. I assumed I’d need a 2nd 112 but am only now getting around to it after 4 years, and mostly to explore the virtues of the Changeling. Keep in mind the TC (or at least my TC) is a 4 ohm cab, so unless your rig handles 2 ohms, stacking may be a problem.

Are you getting a different second cab? Or another TC?
What sort of style(s) of music are you playing?

I don't think the ohms will be a problem. The 112v3 has a "switch", so I'd be running it in 4ohms most of the time and if I grabbed another cab, I'd switch it to 8ohms.

EDIT: 2ohms appears to be possible with the Quilter BB800 too, they just warn about clipping

I’m mostly playing electric blues and some classic rock these days - guitarists with 15-40 watt 1x12’s, kick mic etc., often with PA support.

I’m likely to sell one or another of the 112’s if the C-ling has anything like the presence of the TC. I have a TC115AF for larger, louder and outdoor gigs. I find that the single TC112 or 115 covers everything for now. I’ve never run them together, though I’m prepared to.

Yep. My exact situation. A 4Ohm TC112 v1, and itching for a Changeling once I can afford it to buy one.

Specifically, I'm looking to anyone who has 2 x TC112's/1 x TC212, but happy to hear from Hathor owners too.

I have two 1203’s. I had a tc212. Two separates work better for me because I rarely need both. Carrying one in each hand balances out the load vs. one handing or two handing the larger cab. The tc212 is a clean, loud beast. The hathor stack is also beastly but less prickly up top.

The sound funnels through the door to the stage/audience. Got the port plugged for this one and it's working like a champ.

The Changeling (and Hathor) saw some room variety this week.
It sounded great outside.

Tuesday in a long, narrow beer joint. No bass in the P.A.
Weird and awful room acoustics

Thursday in a large "ballroom". Excellent stage sound/feel. I have played here many times, but this is the best it sounded, possibly due to no longer competing with a massive keyboard rig. Vibes allow for a lot more sonic breathing room.

Saturday on a brewery patio. We were paid with several cases of different IPAs.
The Changeling did all the work here, too. I thought it sounded best at this show. Maybe it likes concrete.

I'm just a long-time lurker/admirer of Duke's work, so take my comments with however many shakers of salt.
If your main use will be modeling, I think the ThunderChild cabs will work better as a clean slate platform from which to build your sound.
With the right accessories, even without modeling, the TC's should get very close to almost any type of sound you might want - something like the DSM Noisemaker OmniCabSim Deluxe would be awesome with any of the TC's, me thunks.

hmm. one of my 1203s has developed a rattle - definitely a driver, sounds like a broken or loose voice coil to me. so far it's inaudible at "normal " volume, so not yet a problem in the real world. if things escalate i'll try to isolate the malfunction before i talk to El Duke.

Whooooaa...I had a rehearsal this afternoon with a new band (keys, guitar, drums and myself on bass) that was just incredibly fun. The studio we play in is fully backlined but I had never tried my active 5-string (G&L L-2500) with the Quilter head and the Changeling 112T yet, so I brought my rig along.

We play some fairly "aggressive" and loud jazz fusion, and I decided to go all out: I dialed in a somewhat in-your-face bass tone (both pickups on, series wiring, active mode with a hint of bass boost on the preamp) and made frequent use of the B string, all ports open and mids switch up on the cab, gain/master volume at about 65% on the amp. The other guys were really impressed (and so was I!) with the great tone and the insane amount of ooommph blasting out of this little box. The drummer could hear me loud and clear even though the cab was ahead of his kit ("ahead" as in "woofer blasting away from him"). He even asked if I could bring my rig again next time.
