AudioKinesis Cabs Part VI...

Just a reminder - the one thing we know for sure is that Duke is an honest, good soul. He has a long history of shooting straight with customers and.....well, everyone. So don't think for a minute that he's one of those guys that takes orders and doesn't follow through. If he's running late, there's a reason and a damn good one. It probably bothers him more than anyone.

i couldn't agree more, Duke has done me a solid more than once. i have three of his cabs and about to order #4, but i don't expect to see it for minimum six months ARO. folks need to realize there's some lead time involved, these things are handmade in small batches. the cabs are worth the wait.

I agree. Back in 2014, when I ordered my pair of H1203 cabs, Duke got injured (work related) and it took a while to get my cabs. Duke stayed in touch, was upfront about the situation and delivered on what he promised.
It was well worth the wait! The cabs were everything I thought they would be and they still sound and perform great! I knew I was getting hand-made custom cabs and it would take a while.
Life has a way of changing our plans when we least expect it.

For all the new folks ordering, or thinking about ordering from Duke, don't worry or hesitate, he will deliver!

Amen to all of the above on wait time. What looks to be a one man show, with great product, and an ongoing, iterative design process that broadens and improves upon what already was a visionary and near-perfect product in the original Thunderchild TC112. Plus...he has a whole ‘nother life with his hi-fi line of speakers! Yes, I’ve also been in the queue, waiting for the product to be made and shipped...and have no regrets whatsoever.

My ThunderChild 212v1 was reunited with ThunderDaddy Duke about 3 years ago. Turns out the cabinet is the prototype TC212. Duke was unhappy with the way the DuraTex was aging. He requested that I send it back to him for a checkup.

Duke gave it a cosmetic makeover at the ThunderFactory. When it returned to my place, it looked brand spanking, sparkly new, with pristine DuraTex. My roadworn, relic'd baby was rejuvenated. Apparently, Duke changed his DuraTex finish method after this prototype. The update still looks great 3 years later. There was no charge for the makeover, and Duke refused payment.

Duke also gave it an operational checkup, finding everything working as intended. It returned sounding just like it always did, like the most phenomenal cabinet I've heard. It pounds, grinds, and snarls to this day in the amazing way the TC212 does.

Duke's cabinets are among the best. His customer service is the best that I have experienced. His products are well worth the wait. I am so grateful for Duke's ingenuity, design, artistry, craftsmanship, sense of humor, humility, enjoyment in working with bassists, and service commitment.

Prayers, blessings, and mercies for Duke and family in this time of challenge and hardship.

it's been quiet, so i'll pump up the volume with a bit of self-pimping.

first, it's funny, i fell hard for the tc112v1 and the hathor12v1. i got the ct112 and have gone back and forth on it a lot. then i realized i was taking it to almost every gig and recording session.

anywho, this is an ak cabinet. i think mostly miced, might be some direct in here too. tbh, i'm not sure if it's the tc or ct, but i think it sounds good either . . . other than a few flams here and there. producer's vibe is to *not* pro tools everything to death . . .

Nice vibe and arrangement. Bass sound is great. You didn’t ask though I’d politely suggest dialing back the keyboard pad a bit. EPiano bass and drums sound fine and organic. $.02 worth.

Cool tune! Need to find something better to listen on so I can get the full bass experience, but what I could hear on this little crap box sounded nice.

Overall I got a sense of the instruments being pretty prominent and the vocals more ambient than I’d expect. It came across to me like an intentional artistic mix choice, and I liked it.

This is interesting to me because usually I want stuff to sound like a small band recorded it in a room with only a few mics (but with the drums sound of Bonham with Zeppelin). This was not that sound yet I liked it and the performance a lot.

I have some good buds and cranked it on my break. Sounds great (and not just the tone).
May I ask..what is your signal chain into the AK?
