It will be interesting to hear the reports on weight and how this cab sounds.
A diversion, If I may, slightly relates to topic. Recently I went to hear a guitard buddy at his gig. I walk in and what do I see? Roll and tuck, baby! The bass player has an old Kustom with the 2-15 cab on stage. Gorgeous silver/gray sparkly roll and tuck goodness on head and cab. There's only one problem. He's using a Sansamp and coloring the sound. At break I ask a favor. "Would you just go straight into the amp for one song so I can hear that Kustom by itself?"
He says sure and does so on the first song. Wow, what righteous vintage tone! I notice he's smiling and he plays the rest of the set without the Sansamp. At break he comes over with a big grin and says, "It sounded so good I didn't want to change back." I've seen the same type of thing happen with old guitar amps too. Now, disclosure here, I'm quite old myself.
I left with this question in my head: Do those old amps sound good to us because that type of tone is ingrained in our memory from the hit records of long ago, or is something else going on?
Thanks for your patience reading, if you got this far. I think about these things more in my dotage.
