Bad Singers who made it

I've seen them twice, each in the last three years. The first time I saw them I was blown away by the band and by Keifer's voice. He sounded amazing.Here's another-
Tom Keifer from 'Cinderella". Like a shovel full of gravel and two cats thrown into a wood chipper. And absolutely horrible live.
The second time, everything was drop-tuned and he still sounded like doodie.
Odd.
Actually, plenty of things amuse me more than that.
But you're right, it is amusing.
Just about everyone who fronted a band for Ritchie Blackmore-
Joe Lynn Turner- horrible range, atonal live
Graham Bonnet- bad with Rainbow, and just bloody Gawd-awful with Alcatrazz!
Ian Gillan- when good singers go bad.....
The exceptions to that rule are Ronnie James Dio- now, there's one hard rockin' hobbit- and Glenn Hughes /The Voice of Rock.
Candice Night has a very good voice (and looks much better than all the other singers you mention here

I am not by any stretch of the imagination an AC/DC fan but both Brian Johnson and Bon Scott, fit that music far better then any of the Justin/Mariah wannabes on American Idol. I look at voice like any other instrument, and sometimes the music calls for distortion or phase shifting. Joe Cocker, Rod Stewart, and Robert Plant (not his clueless imitators) are among the best singers that ever lived. I am much more impressed by someone with an average voice like Donald Fagen or SRV who has become a real singer then someone like Whitney who has to be sure we know on EVERY song that she has pipes. It isn't often that you get someone with a great voice, great control who really knows how to use it. I'd put only a few people in that list:
Ray Charles
Michael McDonald
Steve Winwood
Aretha Franklin
Janice Jopplin
Al Jareau
Stevie Wonder

Taylor Swift

Ringo Starr (he is truly berift of redeeming musical talent)

Not that I have anything against him--because I don't--but his performance skills aren't too thrilling, either.
Britney Spears sucks. YYYaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy something everyone will agree on. If not I will have serious depression issues because if someone here likes here then the world is going to die and that is definately something to be depressed about.
I am very critical of singers and i don't like many but ones that I do like include, the black keys bob marley boston coldplay cream interpol i can list a few more but i never liked the high pitched of acdc and (am i brave enough?...)ledzeppelin. It just kinda scares me. They all have good songwriting skills but not really voices. A great singer has a depth to their voice that these guys lack. You know wut i mean.

Madonna. Even after she got her technique in order, the quality and timbre of her voice still are just awful.

Am I the only one who likes Mick jaggers voice, seriously i always considered him a competent lead singer.
The only reason I didn't put Neil young on the list is he was part of the one of the best bands for vocal harmonies in history, CSNY. OTOH, I don't recall any of their members as exceptional lead vocalist.
Sorry to raise the dead here but I just read 8 pages of 'Bad singers who made it' and did not see one mention of Billy Corgan... This injustice must not be ignored!

There used to be a band called 'Reef' from the UK, they went to number one on the UK charts I believe, it was the worst singing I've ever heard.
James Hetfield and Dave Mustaine.
I thought James` voice from the first 4 albums of Metallica was amazing with their style, but once he became a country singer...
I love Mustaine`s on record, but man he can`t sing too great live. Then again, he makes up for his singing with his writing abilities. IMHO, he`s arguably one of the better writers in rock and metal over the past 20 years.

Anthony Kiedis is the best example for me.

I disagree with this. Even back in the day, Vince would sing off key on recordings and only half the lyrics live. Like DLR, he was a showman. Even Nikki said he wasn't that good of a singer, but he could bring the girls into the shows.
Courtney Love wouldn't have made it if Kurt Cobain hadn't died.
