Baer Amplification Megathread!

Thanks Roger...... I just need to find a place with stock in LA or NYC to give it a go. :)

If you are in LA and want to out an ML112, just let me know. I will run one down to you and let you check it out for a couple days.

Will the driver in the M112 change also ?

We have enough of the current drivers to make another 60, or so ML112's. After that we will most likely have to change drivers, unless the situation at Eminence improves. Right now, the cost of our custom driver is up almost 150% from what we paid a year ago, plus Eminence changed their OEM policies, making it all but impossible to get more drivers under the current conditions. I imagine this is the main reason Bergantino got out of the neo market altogether. For us to continue with neo cabinets, we are having to look for alternatives. While this may change the tone profile of the cab a bit, we are trying to find as close a match as possible and we will not compromise the integrity of the cabinet by using a cheaper, inferior woofer.

That's rather unfortunate. Looks like ill be making a trip up to LA soon to try one out.

Ps: Please be sure to include a las vegas dealer. Cowtown guitars is las vegas's only boutique shop, so that'd probably be the place to go through. =)

Just passing along some NAMM info. Looks like we are going to have a Valkyrie/ ML112 stack in the Nordstrand Guitars booth. If your'e going to be at the show, be sure to stop by and check out the rig with one of Carey's amazing instruments. Booth #3398 in Hall D.

Thanks Growler (trying to ignore that avatar of yours... I have an irrational fear of clowns). George contacted me a quite some time ago about carrying the gear. Once the ML112 became available, George ordered a few cabs to see how well they would go over with the crowd down under. Happy to say they have sold and another order will be on its way there soon. Feedback from George has been very positive, so I'll take that as a good sign. George mentioned that quite a few customers have been asking about the ML212 and Valkyrie head, so we will most likely be sending a Valkyrie or two his way as soon as they become available. George is a great guy to work with and I highly recommend his shop to anyone down under.

We've had customers in Australia for a while now - we just ship direct! ;)

I stand corrected, sir!

Australia is getting better and better access to high-end bass gear, but it's all very expensive, even compared to NZ, as confirmed on a recent trip back to my hometown of Melbourne. I bet the shipping costs aren't trivial, Alex.

Got to try out my ML112's last night w/ my Shuttlemax 9.2 and all I can say is WOW! These cabs are everything 'KJung' and 'B String' have said. My guitar player who I have played w/ off and on for almost twenty five years commented all night how great they sound and it was by far the best tone I have ever had. I'll leave it to some of the other folks on here describing tones. But I will say, great low end, great mids and plenty of nice highs and terrffic clarity. The best way I can describe it is, I hear it all! :) And light weight to boot!

I moved / sold my last heavy cab today, an Avatar B212 at 56 lbs and I'm giddy about the fact the ML112's are only 36-37 lbs. Another note, 'B String' commented on the ML112's sounding great at low volume and they do indeed!

Getting two ML112's may be a little over kill, but wanted to grab a couple while Roger has the current ML112 Neo drivers in stock. A panic purchase maybe. :D

Thanks Roger, for the awesome / professional customer service.

Thanks for the follow-up.
Congrats!
I'd love to hear that amp with those cabs myself.

Not so much these days. I'm getting a Berg HD112 shipped From Bass Gear Direct to Victoria for $799 with cover. That's pretty much what someone in the US would pay here: Rocket Music - Bergantino HD112 in Bergantino Bass Cabs

I imagine George's deals on the ML112 would be competitive too.

There's a couple post from B String on upright.

This is pretty similar to what I've found. This cab seems to have one foot in the old school sound and one in the modern sound. One thing I really enjoy with this box is not having that hole between the top of the speaker and where the horn comes in. There's a lot of nuance there, especially with the upright bass. There's a smoothness going from the speaker to the mid driver. Also, I haven't missed a horn for slapping at all...The ML-112 just floored me when I tried it with my upright bass. This could actually be one of the better doubling boxes on the market. It kills at low volume and has more headroom than most every 2x10 box I've used.

I sent the first ML-112 which Roger had sent me for review on to another player, at Roger's request, and just recently, Roger sent me two new ML-112's (which I purchased for my own use). When I fired them up, I was immediately struck by how much I loved these cabs, and as I thought about it, I was loving them even more than the first one he had sent me. There wasn't quite as much aggressiveness in the upper mids, and they just seemed more connected from top to bottom. I heard this with just one cab, mind you (not talking about the double stack).

Turns out, Roger had a couple of different players request that he make the upper mids just a bit less aggressive, so he tweaked the crossover to bring 1.5kHz down about 2dB. This is not a major tweak, but I do think it's noticeable, and I really dig it. Some cats will prefer the prior iteration, but for me, it was a change that took a very good sounding cabinet and made it even better.

And let me tell you, two of these cabs are a great compliment to a WalkAbout! They are very efficient, so they make the most of the WalkAbout's 300 watts, and the voicing is just great with the little Boogie. This may be my next gig rig. :bassist: :bassist: :bassist:

Nice work, Roger! :D

I did NOT need to read this. Just when I thought my Walkabout rig was all set. :rollno:

Curse you, My Bowlus. Curse you. :hiding: ;)
