Thanks for the replies, all. Im not trying to mke the cabs sound better, just trying to compensate for a problem incurred through excessive lows fom the FOH. I'll try the Nerf bass, thanks Jasper.

i still think that all comes down to pa. I've had excessive lows in FOH and had the soundman ask me to turn my amp down until i looked at him and pointed to the plug that was out of the wall! no amp dude - your bad! gets their attention really quick.

Won't. That's how they like it at the Portuguese Club! I have to deal... but it does depend somewhat on the soundguy- how intense it all is. Just gotta be prepared for the worst! But I think it's not so bad out front. I see everybody dancing anyway!

If that's the situation then I think the BE15 would be perfect as a floor monitor. Sounds like the FOH is covered, but you still need to hear yourself with articulation. Short of in ear monitors, I would use the BE as a personal monitor. Lift it up a couple feet if you need to and point it right at you, facing it. Send the FOH a pre/EQ signal, and DO NOT block the port in back, that will not help anything.

why didn't you say that before? put the cab up on something till it gets closer to ear level. that BE should be putting out enough mids for you to hear just fine. even twice its own height should be fine.

Funny when that happens. Run straight into a DI and out to my amp, amp volume off, soundman says my amp is the problem. Depending on the soundperson, it can be hard not to come off as sarcastic when you point that out to them... again.

Last night I tried a Markbass F1 thru my 2x10 BE. I found the 2x10 to be lacking somewhat in low bottom end. I had to turn the Low Bass dial to 10 in the EQ to get more bottom.

I'd probably need a pair of 12's or 15's to really get some good tone out of the F1, or add a 15 under the 2x10 (which won't work since the 2x10 is already 4 ohms).

Hmmmmm..... My Bag End 2x10 (w/coax) gets a ridiculous amount of bottom end - way more than my BE 2x12 or BE 15's I've had - to the point where i usually have to cut the bass on whatever amp I'm using (usually a Markbass SD800). Otherwise it would just be rumbly mud. I can't imagine turning the bass control to ten on any amp; are you sure the speakers are not wired out of phase?

I agree. Give those speakers the 9-volt battery test.
