Good questions kirk, a number of years ago I ran a S15XD/S15D stack it was a fabulous combo and the cubes while not ultra light were easy to move around. While the D12D a friend was using on paper seemed to be a great solution it never provided the low end I wanted. I believe you said earlier the cab design of the S15 rolls off the sub lows in a way that sounds much better, to my ear it really does compared to a HPF. I find that same natural roll off in a sealed cab to be very pleasing. The Bag End stack was a long time ago now probably ten years, ultimately I swapped out the head I was using for something that didn't pair so well with the BEs.

I don't really care about what my amp looks like and for the most part a black box under the amp is fine but I have always thought the oiled birch Bag Ends look really cool.

I hear ya.
Mine were all the oiled cabs. One tour i was on Claire Bros was doing FOH. I asked the crew and the obliged to paint my boxes and grill cloth them to match the clair cabs of the time. I left them that way.

Do you know Danny Miranda? He is in babylon.. we lived down the road from one another. He and I always swapped gear back and forth. He got one of my old 212 bag end cabs.. I wish i had that cab now. .
Not much low end really but it growled.. with a nice roll off that was natural..

I don't know Danny, is he still in the area? Is he still playing, I haven't heard that name in years..

He may have moved to vegas fulltime now?? . He has a house in Babylon.. but he was out with Queen and paul rogers but now he is with meatloaf.. I saw him a few weeks ago when he came to town and chatted a bit.. he is using an all new fender rig now.
I just saw that you live in babylon and thought you may be friends too..
We used to swap basses back and forth all the time. between the two of us we had the largest bass collection of anyone for 500 miles radius LOL

I used to play in a band with Greg Savino, I know you guys played together. He moved but lived a block away. Babylon is a great little village!

Just played the first to arrive and it was immediately recognizable. Great tone, just leave the amp flat and turn it up. Shy on bottom end but, I know the second one will help out. The feel sits in between ported and sealed. Looking forward to the second one. I probably wouldn't use these outside.

A pair is definitely the way to go - adds the extra beef, and makes for a little stack that gets wicked loud!

I use my pair outside Quite a lot and they perform very well. Our summers are almost all outdoor fairs and the like. We are not pros, and have our own mediocre PA setup, and my BAgs just shine. I normally just bring the s15d cubes and stack them, but got a s15bd big box a while back and bring that out on occasion. Indoors, i use one or two, depending on size of room.

While I always keep my eyes out for good deals on gear, I cant see myself ever getting rid of these bags. I recently sold some old SVT cabs, some eden xlts, and a Berg 215 and while I thought I might miss them...I do not at all. My bags keep me perfectly satisfied. I have to move my own gear around and the compactness of the cubes really helps. Yes, not the lightest cabs around, but kirk describes the bag sound well, which is a great sound.

how is the bottom end area with 2 cabs? OK or too light?If so can you add a little pillow with some EQ help?

I did a triple stack and yeah, didn't like the tonal balance. A pair works really well. Also had a buddy bring over his pair and tried four which was just way stupid loud - yeah, too much for even me.

Does anyone know the difference between the S18D and the S18ED? I understand that the "E" is intended to use some kind of outboard integrator thingy that I'm not familiar with but what differences in the cabs and drivers is there and is it viable to use an "E" cab without the integrator thingy? The Website gives different frequency ranges and efficiency ratings for the cabs (with and without the integrator). My guess is that one is sealed and one isn't maybe? Apparently with the use of outboard integrator it will get down to 8hz (!!), (for real?). Anyone ever use one of those?

Bag End ELF system as they called it 20 years ago.. ..Now they call it InfraSUB.. It goes low. I tired a small system about 20 years ago.. it was quite amazing. Dont know if it would fit my time goal these days. I like LOW too..
Its a rack mount unit that manipulates teh preamped signal before it goes to teh speaker cabs. and it goes DEEP.. a bass that you can feel Ill bet its great for Home theaters or Movie theaters though

I've got to put new stings on but, my feeling is that you won't be adding to much pillow with these. I'll keep you posted though. The dispersion is much better than the nv610 of course and brighter up top. The nv actually has more low end heft.

I'm really digging these cabs. Does anyone have a frequency response plot of the s15d cab? I've played pretty much everything and I'm kind of heading back to the ceramic side of the force. I'm currently building a sealed 15156 with a pair of custom 8 ohm c2515's that I know will be great but, ceramic and neo are just not the same and these bag ends really demonstrate a lot of ceramics positive qualities.
