That's the thing, there are tons of great book titles for a band name, and a lot of the good onces are already taken. I like Steinbeck and I like that book, but that's just a dumb name for a band. It makes you think of mice, which aren't particularly metal, and Lenny, which isn't particularly metal either. Sure the concept in the book is pretty brutal, but the guys in the bands are just think they are so d@mn witty.
You know what deathcore is, you probably just don't know the names. Its that jarring style of metal that jumps from minute long breakdowns to noodley not-riffs with screaming pig vocals song by dudes that look like Joan Jett with radar dishes in their years and full body rainbow tattoos.
Metalcore is a half@$$ed attempt to marry old school hardcore to metal, resulting in some really limp d!ck emo stuff.
Both are like Hot Topic threw up on a guitar.
Sadly these are what passes for the latest evolution in metal, but the market is limited to younger listeners. It can't branch out of the metal genre and anyone over 30 can't stand it, which is a problem considering the aging demographic of metal fans.
