Band names that make you shake your head

Some time ago, we were messing around with a band name generator.

Some of my favorites were:
Twang Dwarf
Acid Ogre
And my personal favorite, Extra Strength Hobbit

If someone uses one of those names, just make sure to send me a copy of your album.

Why do I get the feeling that someone converted an RPG class/race generator into a band name generator. You could pretty much Mad Lib any fantasy race with an adjective:

Funky Elf
Ent Ropy
Youngish Lich and the Mash
Motel 6 Bugbear
Sexy Hag Graef
Gretchin in Nebraska
Salad Orks

I'm sure half of these dorky names have been taken by metal and punk bands that specialize in playing at cons.

I saw an interview with the Goo Goo Dolls, who said really hate their band's name but are afraid to change it.

Same thing with Greenday.

Heard the same story of Jethro Tull, kept changing their name because no one would sign a rock band with a lead flute player. Jethro Tull was the 53rd(???) name they were on when they got signed, then they were stuck with it.

I've found these two to be particularly dopey. One band is "metalcore" (according to Wiki), while the other is a rock band. And yet they sound like TV series on the WB. "Tonight, after One Tree Hill..."

Yes, that's what I'm talking about! Band names that are so lame that saying you will see them in concert is like telling the guys at the bike club that you are attending a taping of The View.

The F-holes are a 30+ year old and still running Seattle band that we used to share a practice space with! They're good local rockers, and most musicians should know what an F-hole is ... although recently Facebook has given them 2 weeks to change their name! (Apparently no musicians on the FB morality committee!)

Yeah I met two of the guys from the F-holes at my local watering hole. Nice guys. they've been around a long time.

Facebook is ridiculous for making them change their name.

Has anybody mentioned String Cheese Incident? A bunch of very competent players in that group, but what a weird name.

I caught a bit on YouTube where a few members from the Doobie Brothers, who I believe were in town for a show, got on stage and played with SCI. At one point Pat Simmons was thanking the members for allowing them to "sit in," renaming the confluence of their two groups The Doobie Cheese Accident. I thought that name sounded pretty cool.

That was at the Lockn Festival in Virginia I was there. It was billed as The Doobie Incident. It was not a walk-on, it was planned and they had a slot on the main stage. it was a fun mash-up. Two years earlier they had John Fogerty (Creedence Clearwater Revival) sit-in with Wide Spread Panic. It's a theme at that festival.
