I cannot listen to this band.I think that name is kind of corny, since it was derived from the Kill Bill movies.
The Tony Danza Tap Dance Extravaganza is an amazing and hilarious band name, I've always felt.
"Whoretopsy" is a terrible band name that I've seen recently. Same with "Cemetery Rapist."
Ones I've seen at shows, written on walls, include "Little Girl Farts," and "poopiehammer."
There was a band that used to rehearse in the same building as my band. Their name was "That Which Binds," but they really didn't think about their logo enough, because the font they went with made the "N" look like an "R." So it always looked more like "That Which Birds," which we always found oddly hilarious.
Obviously, there's always naming your band "Free Beer!"
Sunn O))) is actually pretty cool. Not all music is made for all people. Their name is a reference not only to the amps but also to the band Earth (who in turn used, at the time at least, primarily Sunn amps).
Bands have referenced other things all the time. The Rolling Stones took their name from an already existing song, after all. And some people at the time certainly didn't think they were a very good band. Black Sabbath took their name from a movie. The Beatles' name is an oblique reference to Buddy Holly and the Crickets. The Dead Kennedys' name is a somewhat tasteless reference to a politically influential family in the USA. "Fugazi" is a relatively common term for a messed up situation. I've even heard of a band named "The Wind in the Willows," after the book. What's so special about an amp brand that no one can name a band after them?

Have you ever listened to Train's lyrical wonderland? It's just rambling non sequiturs. I seriously think he just picks random words out of I Can Read books while blindfolded.Five finger death punch is the worst band ever. IMHO.
Lyrically.
If you doubt me then listen to any song they made and tell me it's not just all clichés..... Arranged to ryhme.
I think String Cheese Incident is a fine name. It's goofy, but it's meant to be. It's when they're supposed to be serious that I shake my head. Think of Plan 9 from Outer Space, or any movie mocked on MST3K- they weren't meant to be terrible. Someone actually thought they were good enough to release.Has anybody mentioned String Cheese Incident? A bunch of very competent players in that group, but what a weird name.
I caught a bit on YouTube where a few members from the Doobie Brothers, who I believe were in town for a show, got on stage and played with SCI. At one point Pat Simmons was thanking the members for allowing them to "sit in," renaming the confluence of their two groups The Doobie Cheese Accident. I thought that name sounded pretty cool.
*shrugs* I'd have no problem with it. Of course, Fender's still a brand, whereas Sunn no longer exists. Ironically, Fender discontinued the brand just before the band took off. Somewhat poor timing on their part. I wouldn't care at all if a band were known as Fender. Well, as long as they actually used Fenders. Otherwise I'd think it was stupid.Ok, in that case I'm going to name a $$$$$ metal band Fender and expect people not to be pissed off.
We were meant to be together ...
So Ill hold on to the end of time.
Together forever .
Till we find the time.
And still we meet again .
And we fight the tide.
I will ride the night .
When you call me on the phone.
I'll tell you that you are never alone.
Together forever.
Till we ride the night.
You are welcome five finger death punch.I just wrote your next hit in six seconds.
I have not...that I know of.Have you ever listened to Train's lyrical wonderland? It's just rambling non sequiturs. I seriously think he just picks random words out of I Can Read books while blindfolded.
I've been hearing of these guys recently getting a lot of acclaim on our awesome local independent station KEXP. When I finally heard some of what they do, I have to admit to having been impressed ... but the name seems really reaching for bland. I've read right here that some people think the Beatles is a silly name (I've heard much worse), & I've even almost bought records by the likes of the D***s and the Urinals (at least those names are kind of a good indicator of what to expect musically.)
Ladies and gents, I give you Car Seat Headrest!
