Band names that make you shake your head

BDC - Local band around here years ago. The letters didn't stand for anything. Just the three letters. They got asked all the time. And when asked "What does BDC stand for?" they would just look confused and say "Whataya mean?"

That's awesome! Almost Zen when you think about it. You could have so much fun with that.

Fan: What does BDC stand for?

Band member: Whattya mean?

Fan: The letters…y'know? BDC? It's your band's name…

Band member: (looking around with alarmed expression) It is??!!!

And it just goes further downhill from there.

Love it! :roflmao:

Atreyu. It's a friggin' metalcore band and they took their name from a friggin' children's movie! :roflmao:
Not as bad as Krokus. Too bad they didn't have Google Images back then...

My band's name is 'Lamp Shade Betty' and I get people asking me all the time how we came up with it. Most think it is kind of funny and out of the ordinary but I have had quite a lot of people say that it sticks in their head because of it being different. Soooo maybe that's a good thing? haha

I used to think it was just a funny name and then someone enlightened me as to its meaning. The butthole part refers to the hole in an inner tube and a butthole surfer is one who tubes down a river with their butt inserted into said inner tube. I kinda like it.

I heard the name was a reference to one of the band members dogs who used to slide across the carpet on its butthole. lol

One of my old bands used to play shows with Super Heavy Goat Ass, I think they were out of Austin.

Did you laugh at their name or shake your head?

I ask because many of the names in this thread are funny or kinda cool for what the band does. The OP was talking about really bland names that are terrible. Sack Spasm is awful in a different way, but I'll probably now remember it forever.

My idea of a bad name is The Cranberries. Fairly bland music named after a fairly bland food. Then I saw a guitar solo so boring that it could be played mechanically with one left-hand finger and gave up.

Sometimes I do find it fun to come up with intentionally bad band names. I wonder what kind of a project 'Speling Nazi' should be?

Can't believe you all forgot these guys:

What year is that from? I was in a band that ripped the name off I think, but that was a long time ago.

My favorite band name like that that I saw in print was Barney Rubble and the C**t Stubble.

Also, No Refund used to be hilarious. But when I first saw their name on a bill, I literally thought it was a disclaimer from the venue and not a band name.
