Bands That Your Amazed That Made It.

Rappers. Like others here I just hate them. With all of that poetry and metaphor. And the whole thing about creating a multi-billion dollar industry by merely making something from nothing like spinning two records together to create a beat from a drum break. They shoulda moved out to the suburbs like the rest of us and gotten new stratocasters for Christmas, like the rest of us, and imitated Van Halen like the real talent in the universe. And those underground guys who are pushing the art form with instrumentation and composition. Stupids!! I mean I've only heard two Rap songs, and one was when I was next to one of those creeps at the stoplight playing his music too loud. Pissin' me off!!! I went into guitar center and saw DJ equipment and Technique turntables for sale. Get it out!!! Die Rappers!!!

Here we go.

Nickleback, FFDP, Creed, Seether, Three Days Grace, Staind, Smile Empty Soul, ect: The Generic Mediocre Radio Rock Bands. If they played covers of each other songs, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. I like metal and hard rock, so people come up and ask me if Like Staind, Nickleback, and FFDP to which I reply, Id like to see them all shot.

Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj: What the actual @#$% ? thats all I have to say.

Blink 182, Simple Plan, Yellowcard, ect: Bands that suck harder than Greenday at being Greenday.

Ke$sha: I love Black Metal, and I love grindcore, and I find this to be the most abrasive and plain irritating crap I have ever heard.

---------------------------------------------

Now I have one thing to say.

Lady Gaga when she isn't trying to out-strange Marilyn Manson, and isn't making annoying as hell electronic pop, but instead pulls out a piano, and sings straight up...
Well, shes just awesome when that happens. Gaga is the most talented person in pop music today. Unfortunately the radio plays her garbage stuff. In concert, on piano, singing like she can, she is jaw droppingly good.

-SIncerely the Guy who wanted to hate Lady Gaga, but whose little sister insisted was she was great, and was right.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNqThMCW8a4& <--Cant deny that is fantastic.

Lol same thing happened to me when my wife made me watch gaga perform when she wasn't acting/dressing like a wanker. I had to concede she had talent. My dillinger escape plan cds instantly exploded. Even my dog was pissed.

Hardly an oversimplification when you take this thread's ideas in comparison to the posts that follow.

But it is...

Perhaps, but it seems more like people are just using this opportunity to list bands they dont like.

Well that is kinda the main premise. If we're amazed a band made it, it's probably because we think that band is crappy. Hence why it's amazing that the band made it at all. It's gonna overlap a lot with our own personal tastes.

But it's also cool because we're getting peoples' perspectives on different bands in their different phases, and peoples' ideas on the music industry as a whole. There is absolutely no denying the fact that especially nowadays, musical talent has very little actual correlation to "making it." Anyone who believes there is a proportional relationship just doesn't know about the industry.

just reading thru this thread makes me not want to post in it. dragons be here... meaning, lots of different opinions!

if i might put one name out there, i never understood the fascination behind queens of the stone age, or Tool.

i tried getting into it but its just not my thing.:hyper:

I saw Korn open up for Metallica back during the Black album days. The whole snakepit stage set-up was covered up by a giant black sheet that had Korn written on it. They had about as much room on stage as a small club.....LOL. Sounded good awful and were pretty much ignored by early crowd.

I can't believe that I'm seeing entries like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Talking Heads and the entire genre of hip hop.

That's like working in advertising and having no respect for Coca-Cola.

Love the Beatles and Talking Heads. I put Led Zeppelin because I can't see why they were such a big deal. Back then there was so many great bands and Led Zep did nothing special. They weren't the heaviest, they weren't the most innovative, and that singer...oh my gods...that voice absolutely hurts my ears...

Of course just my opinion :hiding:

I do find them overrated as "the best rock band ever", but they were a great band. Never will take the spot of Rush in my heart, but a great band.

That's how I feel about The Beatles being called the best band ever. Boy band turned studio band - live they would have been l-a-m-e. They couldn't even pull of the most of their last albums live. And some of their lyrics are outright terrible.

I thought the Stones were considered the best rock band though?

Zep, as instrumentalists, were probably the most accomplished at their craft as a whole as any band ever. Each member is considered top 10, maybe even top 5, at their respective craft. Their discography in terms of radio play rivals the Beatles easily - some albums are spun wholly to this day.

The Beatles... I have tons of respect for their post Rubber Soul/Revolver and really enjoy listening to it, but the stuff before that is not that good IMO.

*Flame suit engage

Finally someone who agrees with me on the early Beatles albums! I really think they started to come into their own when they all started playing different instruments (Paul on his Rick especially).

Also, I am surprised that Adele made it. Not because she isn't talented, but because she is too talented. Honestly, I thought we went through this with the Brittany Spears vs Christina Aguilera battle of the late 90s early 00s. Talent (Christina can sing, Brittany can't) is often inversely proportional to success, and Adele has flipped that on its head. Also not helping matters is that she is not "conventionally" attractive. However, I hope her success is a sign of things to come.

I truly dont feel that any of zeps members were in even the same league talent wise as king crimson, yes, captain beefhearts magic band, cream, the experience, etc.
