Bands That Your Amazed That Made It.

I wish I could ride the coattails of my "boy-band" existence to go into the studio for the last half of my career, never to make any attempt to materialize my music on stage. Sit around jangling with Tibetan monks and doing massive amounts of illicit substances....

:hiding:;)

But seriously, I love the music but it just plain irks me they never played out for nearly half of their whole existence.

Hey that's not in question from me, I envy their jobs and success (to an extent; I WOULD like to be able to leave my house without being mobbed or stabbed by a crazed fan in my kitchen) but there isn't much in their early stuff that speaks to me or stands out any more than any of the other pop/boy bands of the early 60s...

Type O had such a cool live show though. I've seen them probably four or five times because they used to open for a lot of metal bands that came through my area. I was impressed every time. I never bought any of their music and only like a handful of their songs, but I was sad when Peter Steele died. I never get to see them live again :bawl:

Yeah I'm still bummed :-( dude had a knack for writing creepy depressing but catchy tunes. Say what you want about type o, but nothing else sounds like them

^This +10000.

I'm reading the thread, seeing all these bands I love getting bashed, and I can't quite figure out how this thread is staying open - seems like pure bashing to me.

Personally I think its fun to see other peoples opinions and where theyre coming from. Some bands I like got bashed but its all good!

I remember talking to a guy at DiscMakers one time. I was living in New York City, and despondent about finding gigs for my rock band.

The guy said, "Listen- if your music appeals to 1 percent of people, and NYC has 8 million people, then you can have 80,000 potential fans in this city alone." All you have to have is the patience and determination to find that 1 percent of people.

I think some of these bands found their 1 percent. Often takes 10 or 15 years of touring. Then, once you sell 50,000 CD's or so, there's an inevitable snowball effect. Just my opinion!

A very poor oversimplification of this thread's ideas.

Hardly an oversimplification when you take this thread's ideas in comparison to the posts that follow.

It's a legitimate, pertinent, interesting conversation.

Deal with it.

Perhaps, but it seems more like people are just using this opportunity to list bands they dont like.

Here we go.

Nickleback, FFDP, Creed, Seether, Three Days Grace, Staind, Smile Empty Soul, ect: The Generic Mediocre Radio Rock Bands. If they played covers of each other songs, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. I like metal and hard rock, so people come up and ask me if Like Staind, Nickleback, and FFDP to which I reply, Id like to see them all shot.

Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj: What the actual @#$% ? thats all I have to say.

Blink 182, Simple Plan, Yellowcard, ect: Bands that suck harder than Greenday at being Greenday.

Ke$sha: I love Black Metal, and I love grindcore, and I find this to be the most abrasive and plain irritating crap I have ever heard.

Now I have one thing to say.

Lady Gaga when she isn't trying to out-strange Marilyn Manson, and isn't making annoying as hell electronic pop, but instead pulls out a piano, and sings straight up...
Well, shes just awesome when that happens. Gaga is the most talented person in pop music today. Unfortunately the radio plays her garbage stuff. In concert, on piano, singing like she can, she is jaw droppingly good.

-SIncerely the Guy who wanted to hate Lady Gaga, but whose little sister insisted was she was great, and was right.

<--Cant deny that is fantastic.
