Bass or sex?

while it's interesting to see which choice people make, the very fact that "bass or sex" is a difficult decision says quite a lot about us bass players. it's comic in one way, but more serious in another - i mean, sex is one of the most basic of human needs and drives, and (evidently) playing bass is regarded by many of us in a similar fashion.

i did notice that there weren't any posts in this thread from female bass players - i wonder if thinking of bass with this kind of "affection" is a guy thing?

Not according to Selena Bass Girl.

I choose sex under 2 conditions: Firstly, I have a loving girlfriend at all times with which to fulfil my choice - meaning that I'm not going to be outside of a relationship -and secondly, I still retain my knowledge of music theory.

Yeah, I'm assuming that I still know about music and that if I choose sex, I'm actually going to be getting some.

I also assume that it's not a case of the girl forcing me to choose, as there are other girls. I was thinking of like, if I choose sex, some random ailment strikes me that renders me physically incapable of playing bass or for some reason a law is made against it, and vice versa for sex.

yeah, i guess i overlooked that - thanks. I should have said that sinced only 1 out of 250 posts appeared to express female opinion, that this might be mostly a guy issue.

Just a guess, maybe girls have more "affection" for bowed instruments...

that means an all-powerful authority figure is asking you to make the choice.

I would, on being offered the choice, immediately throw a hissy fit, stomp and scream, roll on the ground while crying that its not fair and then lie there looking pathetically up at him with red-rimmed eyes, a gasping "can't quite catch my breath" thing and a runny nose.

If the choice was not rescinded with his deified mercy....................uhhhhh...I'd have to go with the bass

Easy choice. Sex.

I'm quite happily married, and as sex is an integral part of marriage and my relationship with my wife, I'm certainly going to prioritize wife/marriage over the bass.

I should say though that as much as she would be gratefull for my choice, ;) my wife would be pretty darn sad to see me stop playing bass.

There stood the young women, hovering near the stage after the set was over, all looking swell. When I came off the stand, they all gathered round, to praise my playing.

"Dude, you don't just play that bass. You look like you're in love with it or something. You're all over it."

"Well, ladies, yes, I guess you're right. I am all over it. And now if you'll excuse me, I have to walk away from this moment. Some cat named Pablo that I've never met has made me take an oath of celibacy".

LMFAO

I might have to choose sex, its a lot cheaper, is usually the goal at the end of any gig anyhow, and you never said anything about playing other instruments.

However you didn't say it was guaranteed sex, so I might have to stay with Bass, I already got the gear, I usually do it myself anyway after a gig :crying: hehe, and you didn't specify what sex is defined as.
