Bass or sex?

I can see how playing bass (or guitar or whatever) can in some cases generate attraction, but by no means does not playing a bass mean no sex. I am sure plenty of non musical instrument players out there get laid. I was getting sex before I picked up a bass.

So if you had to choose between never again having sex with your wife (or anyone else) and being able to play bass OR never again playing bass yet going on as normal with the sex life which would you choose?
Bass. Sorry. No-brainer. I know guys who have been put in that very position, and the ones who choose the wife are miserable. If my wife did that to me, I would know she didn't truly love and understand me. Fortunately, my wife loves me and I love her and it won't ever be an issue.

Has anyone noticed that no one has said that playing the bass is overrated

If anything it is probably underrated. The general public thinks playing bass is "inferior" to playing guitar since bass isn't as prevelant in the mix (particulary in rock) and guitar players typically get more attention. Bass players tend to be considered "background noise" to compliment the guitar player. Little do they know, the music would sound like crap without the bass.

Chances are that I wouldn't be going out with such a person in the first place. My girlfriend of four years knew what she was getting into at the beginning, and likes hearing me play. So it's all good.

But the point to the hypothetical question is that if you keep the bass you loose the sex. If you take the sex you loose the bass.

So to say where there is bass there will always be sex doesn't fly.

You have to pick bass OR sex.

Yes. The question is not "what would you do if your girlfriend/boyfriend/wife/husband said you had to choose between them and the bass." It's if some sort of impossible reason caused to have to choose definitively, for the rest of your life, one or the other.

Which is why I'd choose sex and then take up some other instrument that I could be equally obnoxious on. Perhaps downtuned electric cello.

ok i definately got to go with sex as i'm 19 and have a gf that i plan on marrying(don't tell her that yet though) within the year or 2, god willing. And i just think a honey moon would be about worthless with out some........and me and her.........in the......and then doing the........with the........ and all that.

now if i was in my older brothers shoes right now. married with one almost two year old and twins on the way.... then my statement would go like this "easy bass she kicked me out of there about 3 months ago and i don't think i'm getting back in so bass. now good day sir.....i said good day sir!!!"

But, if the chick is there, doesn't that mean the bass won't be? Assuming I want the encounter to be successful?

On a serious note, this is the way I truly feel about it. I've dated several girls, one of whom wanted to go all the way (and she was pretty and everything), but I've come to the realization that I would vastly prefer a walk in the park, or cooking something together, or just straight cuddling. Never been interested in the primal side of things.

Anyway, /derail.

Does not compute, does not compute! :bawl:

I understand. For many people it doesn't. You guys have your sex, and enjoy it. I'll enjoy my life without it. :)

who are u trying to convince about the non-sex thing?

this is not ur first post in this thread about non-sex , asexual life...etc.

if u're happy, stop it, and live ur life , let the sexual ones debate this thing :D

P.S: don't feel offended, but what does an asexual person doing in a sexual thread?

Aren't you a bit young for the marriage thing? If it makes you happy....

What Happened to Me
(Thomas)

Such a thing could never happen to me
or anyone I know:
Not I not me at
the bottom of the sea.
Not I not me,
the bottom of the sea!

Such a thing could never happen to me
or anyone I know.
To Pharaoh,
to Harold,
the Turks long ago,
they were all laid low
But not I not me,
not the bottom of the sea!

Not I not me at
the bottom of the sea:
So hapless
Hopeless
A figure of fun;
Children are pointing,
saying,
"He is the one!"

Such a thing could never happen to me
or anyone I know.

Such things never happen to me
or people that I know.
Not I.
Not me.
Not the sea.

Oh dear god, I mean I love bass and all but... life without sex.... hmmmm... I'm gonna have to say sex.

Btw bigbassman8342, don't let them get to you! good thing is you're not getting married right now when you're probably a bit too young to be sure, but if in 2 years from now you still want to marry her, chances are you should. I'm 21 and I can't wait to graduate an Engineer this year and marry my girlfriend very soon (she's 25, makes more sense to marry at her age)
