Behringer XR18 X-Air

Actually my laptop upgraded to 10 from 8 almost always requires turning on twice - the first time it will start up and shut off after a few seconds but it always starts right up the second time. On occasion it'll just hang the first time and I'll have to hold the power button down for a forced powerdown but again always fine the secodn time (so far :nailbiting:)

I think mine only responds to the power button since upgrading - which is why I asked.

BTW I think pushing the shift key used to work too. Probably not going to work for you but maybe worth a try?

Thanks for the info. The behavior of the computer itself is just as important as the networking and operation of the editor program. I'll let you all know how this shakes out. Otherwise, I'm very happy with the machine, but still getting used to the new OS...it's...different.

It seems that if I manually put the laptop to sleep using the power button, I can wake it up using the power button. That will suffice for my purposes at home. When I use it on the gig, all sleep modes will be shut down anyway. I think this will work.

Has anyone used the x-18 with the Ultranet and the Turbosound networked speakers? Thinking of trying the Siena TSP122-AN. CAT cable instead of speaker cable.

And on another note, are there any good collections of vocal effects presets? I just got one of these mixers and have not yet had time to really try it out. Plug and play with an old Android 10" tab so far.

And just to update, I'm starting to really enjoy digging into using the software to control the mixer. A few minor complaints and learning curve items with the touch screen, but all said, not a bad little setup.

I'm really liking a lot of the features of this board. Channel comps with the wet/dry mix balance is a GREAT standard channel strip feature for a digital mixer. I do wish the Parametric EQ allowed for true "pinch" control of the Q (or does it?!!). Mackie executes this better IMO. I'd also like to see the channel EQ have a simple variety of a classic "rotary knob" EQ, like is also available in the Mackie.

All that said, though, on the balance, I like the X-Air. It almost gives users too many features and options for such low-cost digital mixer, but not complaining.

I use "pinch Q" with my Android tablet. It does make setting the Q much easier and more intuitive.

I don't have an iOS or touchscreen laptop to test it on other platforms. (Yet)

For the X32, Behringer specifies shielded (STP) cat5 or cat6 cable on their user forum. I have been using Monoprice STP cat6 for several months with no problems with an X32/Turbosound iQ set-up.

HA HA I knew someone would correct me. I was just thinking of the mixer to the speaker as "speaker cable" in this situation as it substitutes for the line level cable.
I have not as yet tried the ultranet out, but it certainly has possibilities, and since it is built into the X-18 then why not. I can always run a dual setup until I am convinced it won't drop out. I just took on the Tubosound products and have to purchase anyway so I thought I would replace my personal system with the Siena and try out the ultranet with the x-18/x-32.

So no problems with ultranet, no dropout or connection problems? It sure sounds pretty slick!

Any particular reason to go with the Sienna over the Turbosound iQ12? I originally ordered the Sienna, but due to an ordering snafu, had to send it back and got a pair of the iQs. More options available for connections, same amp and DSP. Cheaper now too.

Something to considder anyway...

Siena are birch wood boxes. I still am considering the IQ's as well. Also getting some Milans as a rental system-certainly don't want ultranet for that.

Created a couple scenes at home and had a virgin run of the XR-18 at a gig tonight...very simple, just vocals, so it was pretty easy. Using the 2-in-1 laptop hardwired networked, smooth sailing, and sounded good. No worries, no complaints. I like it. I did have a USB mouse connected, and was surprised at how much I used the mouse and keyboard rather than the touch screen, depending on what I wanted to execute. I like having the flexibility of all methods with the XR-18. I think the days of using the Mackie 1608 may be numbered...if I do ever use it again.
