Ben Affleck to play Batman

I was a huge batman comic dork as a kid so I'm a little more sensitive to changes in continuity that had been ingrained over the years. I think Frank Millers take on batman (Year One, Dark Night Returns) are the most finely written, movie adaptable batman works out there that also lend realism to the character. Grant Morrison (Arkham Asylum, Killing Joke) is also another writer whose work would translate well.

Killing Joke was Alan Moore.just sayin:Dbut I agree with you 100%

Just thought I'd share this photo-manip I got from Superherohype.com-

I'd say he at least looks the part.

Matt Damon would be a better choice. He could step in after Bale and you wouldn't feel immediately sick as I do now reading this horrific news. Damon has developed grit to his acting. Affleck always looks and acts like some fraternity boy that's only concern is if everyone is looking at him and noticing that he's wearing a Rolex. Zero depth. It's as if the producers and director have never seem an Affleck film.

Why is everyone so hung up on Bale's Batman voice?? Y'all do know that he was hiding his identity, right? Would you have liked it better if he sounded like Bullwinkle? Or maybe if every conversation included "Bruce?...Is that you?" ?

Shhhh, but a little bird told me a few weeks back that Timberlake was also offered the role. Don't rush to judgement, JT may have done a good job.

Who knows. Maybe Aflac can pull it off.

JT would make a very interesting Batman. I think Ben will do a good job, it will just be different than Bale. I can also understand why Bale said no, he has played the character three times now and he wants to move onto something else. Not everyone is Robert Downey Jr, or Huge Jackman and up for playing the same character five, or more, times.

Daniel Day Lewis for Dark Night Returns. Done.
I assume that you're joking, but I think that could be absolutely awesome. Daniel Day Lewis has been doing some great films over the last decade or two, and I absolutely believe he could contribute more gravitas to the role than Affleck.

I haven't seen any Superman movies since Richard Pryor dropped out of the series. I have seen every Batman film since Keaton.

There is a good likelihood that this will fall into the "Superman" movie side of my viewing pattern with Affleck involved.

I'm dead serious actually. I couldn't think of a better person to play Batman coming out of retirement in the future.

You know, I gave JT a good honest chance when I watched "In Time," and though I wouldn't say he was the worst part of that godawful film, he sure as hell wasn't the best.

From the posted link to the article:

“Man of Steel” director Zack Snyder said Affleck was picked for the sequel because he envisioned a more mature Batman to contrast against a younger Superman.

“He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne,” he said.

I can see now why he chose him. Although a grey haired Christian Bale would have been fine lol
