I'm just curious about how the ae212 works out with the Walkabout.

I've been using my AE212 with ALL my amps- just to see which I LIKE the best with the cab.
with Mark Bass LMII - altho I still love this amp with the AE112 & NV215 I Don't really 'love' it with the AE212- dunno why really, but it just doesn't seem to 'mate' well. Sounds sterile(to me) & doesn't cut thru much. strange- coz it's the opposite with the AE112.
For whats it's worth, I find the MarkBass F-1 to have plenty of cut and punch, that head works so much better than the LM Tube I recently sold which I understand is very similar to the LMII.
I can't imagine any amp that won't sound good with the AE212 if it sounds good with just about anything else.
I'm finding out that my RH450 isn't jiving too well with the AE212, sounds a bit muddy and dark. Not muddy as in lows running wild but the mids sound congested, unclear.
In contrast I'm really digging the little GK MB200, much clearer, easier to dial in.
Maybe Ken influenced me here but I'm thinking this cab likes heads with a tight and bright voicing.
My short list would incluse the F1/F500, Mesa M6/M9, the GK MB series, and probably the Genz heads with the exception of the Streamliner, the new 9.2 would probably be great.
Looking for more input from you guys who may have tried some of these heads as I'm considering swapping my TC for something else.
I A/B'ed the Shuttle 9.0 with the F1 on the AE212, and to my ears there was an instant and noticeable difference in the thickness, definition and punch in the low end. This is the main reason I sold both Shuttles and keep the F1 and would buy another as a back up.

I love it. Then again- I haven't yet played the WA thru a cab & have it sound anywhere near bad!!
) & build quality- just smugly mutters Italian engineering IMO Aww man, you guys did it again. It's a lot of Ken's fault actually. I just bought me an AE212. (I now have a few "mirror rigs of yours now Ken- AE212+F1+Streamliner+Audiokinesis 112+ VP5) The only one I got before you Ken was the sonic blue VP5.![]()
The MESA WA works a darn treat thru the AE212I love it. Then again- I haven't yet played the WA thru a cab & have it sound anywhere near bad!!
The NV215 is my FAVE cab for the WALKABOUT - then probly the actual 8 ohm SCOUT cab it came with! I LOVE the vintage 'bloom' that cab has, & SUCH projection for a 1x12" EXCELLENT!!!!!
As I mentioned & Doug P. mentions(re the LM Tube v MB F1/F500) - the Mark Bass LMII is MY least fave of MY amps- pity coz I really like the LMII's sound- especially thru the AE112 & NV215(not much sounds bad thru the NV215 either) & build quality- just smugly mutters Italian engineering IMO
K.Jung also says the LMII is 'nite & day' thru the AE212 compared to the F1/F500. I DID try boosting the mids on the LMII & altho it cut thru the 8 piece band mix OK, it wasn't my favorite tone.
Where the WA & the GB Shuttle 6.0 just seem to ROCK the AE212 perfectly. I STILL think I'll keep my LMII as it does sound lovely thru the AE112 & NV215 & even the HS410.
I love being able to put the VLE @ 8-11oclock & VPF on JUST a tad @ around 7-8 oclock- gives a lovely vintage tone IMO.
Thanx also to G.ROBERTS. Yeah I love the MESA WA in it's headcase, & it on the AE212-to me at least- reminds me ofone of my 1st rigs back in the mid '70's. Only it's 1/2 the weight.![]()

I got the sawzall in my hand ready to turn the AE212 into two AE112s unless someone wants to trade me their AE112 stack for my AE212.
