Hi all. I currently have two amps. Demeter VTBPM800D and GKMB fusion.
My cabs are two HD112 and I love them, but have been craving a sealed cab. I've owned many Berg cabs and have had nv610 and nv215, but years back with different amps than my current. I've wanted to try both the nv 115 and nv212... but they're both 8ohms and I don't want to double up on either. Is there any experience with the Demeter or GK amps with the nv115 or nv212 in regard to the impedance and sound??? With my Demeter and a single hd112 @8ohms I have to crank the volume up quite a bit as opposed to both at 4ohms.
I don't own any of these products, but here's what the product specs indicate.
Your Demeter produces 400 watts into an 8 ohm load and 800 watts into a 4 ohm load.
The sensitivity of the cabs are:
NV115 96db
NV212T 99db
HDN112 98db
Since all three are made by the same manufacturer they should be consistently measured/rated.
All three cabinets are 8 ohm so you Demeter will deliver the same amount of power into these loads at any given volume setting. The two NV cabs are rated at 400 watts, while the HDN is rated at 350 watts.
There will be a small but noticeable difference in volume between the NV115 and the NV212T due to sensitivity, and the speaker configuration will likely also make the NV212T seem a little louder if they are both placed on the floor. The NV212T will only be very slightly louder than a single HDN112, but will also have an advantage due to the vertical cone arrangement.
A pair of HDN112 cabinets will have a combined sensitivity of about 101db and additionally you amplifier will produce twice as much power into this load increasing spl by 3db. So you will have an additional 5db compared to a single NV212T and 8db more than the NV115. These differences are significant.
You should try the cabinets to hear for yourself the differences. It appears that getting the same volume capability from the NV212T as your pair of HDNs would require two cabinets.
Sorry I can't speak from experience with these cabs, but this is what I think the specs are indicating.
