Bergantino's Vertical 410!!!!!

SN002, sweet! :) The yellowish LED bulb lighting in my foyer doesn't do justice to the black cherry tolex, so here's a pic of the cab in its cover. The cover is brown ($5 upcharge), the tolex is not.

As always with Bergantino, the cab was perfectly packaged: corner protection, side edge protection.

My gig this Saturday will be at a Legion hall so I won't be able to push the cab very hard, but I'll do a partial review anyway. My next loud gig won't happen until after my vacay, on 9/27.

Congrats. No.2 👍👍
Look forward to hearing about its performance

Just received my NV410T today - thanks, Jim! - and I was able to spend just a few minutes playing through it. I am very happy with how it sounds/performs, and I love the looks and form factor. I didn't have much time, but I did briefly compare it to the NXT212SE and HG410x. Predictably, it was closer to the HG, but definitely had more forceful lows/low mids and just packed more slam/punch than the HG. The (ported) NXT is actually louder than the two (sealed) 410's, but the two 410's had more controlled low end. Lots to love about all three, but I have to say, the NV410T seems to do exactly what I was hoping it would do. Next up, side by side with the NV610T!

Wow, luckily I didn't know about this cab until few days ago, and they are sold out :D 😜

Anyway, I hope there will be more in the future, and also available in Europe.
My NV610 (tolex, tweeterless, without skid rails) is the best cab I ever owned. Period. I will never sell it.
I used it with a bunch of tube and solid state amp, it shines with every amp. Currently hooked with my SVT-II non pro.

(I did a lot of gigs with my old GK400RB, first series, 200W. It's an amazing rig, too)

A taller 4X10 cab, with the same sonic footprint should be amazing

The three amp heads below, fit nicely on my NV410T…all sound seriously fabulous with this new cab; for my ear’s—nothing better than tubes (or nice tube emulation) paired with sealed/ceramic’s! Been a minute since I had the NV410T prototype cab…this cab projects beautifully—so easy to hear myself; zero tweeter needed.

• Changed out the 12AX7 for a 12AU7 in the Milkman. Like it much better!

• Honestly prefer the YBA100 with the NV410T (vs NV610T)…the additional 410 cab clarity makes for a crazy good pairing.

• And the Ultra…I’ve already documented how well it works with every cab I have (Ampeg Heritage 810E, and both NV’s)…

If you’re living with someone, my choice in “furniture” decor might be a problem for you. In fact, highly not recommending… ;-)

Sealed, 79 lbs, sensitivity only 101 dB. Rolls off at 48 Hz.

I’ll high pass.

Not sure I'm getting the humor here other the the "high pass" pun I guess.. Regardless, all NV410T cabs are sold out (where sold out before we even built them along with a waiting list in case anyone cancelled) and we have a lot of happy customers. Shouldn't judge any product by specs alone as they tell very little about the qualities and tone of the product. If you see a products weight spec emphasized before anything else, you know its tone has been compromised for weight, which we will not do. In order for a speaker to accurately and fully produce the bass response of the instrument, you need mass to act as an "anchor". I respect those who's priorities are weight over tone, but you have to choose one as your top priority.

Looking forward to the barrage of nay sayers. Bring it on! ;-}

Jim, I'll wait for the second batch, if there will be another one 😅

Jim said "Nay sayers Bring it on! ;-}"

I am not a nay sayer especially since you have been putting out great Speaker Cabs and Amps for Decades

But my 37lb Mesa Subway Ultra Lite 1x15 IME has great tone and excellent true Bass
Also I don't believe @agedhorse designed a Cab to sacrifice tone so Mesa could promote 'Ultra Lite' in thier Ad's

There also is such as Genzler and Barfaced among others

I’m not saying you can’t make a good sounding, light weight cab. But the lighter one goes, the more their trading off tone for weight, IMO, and IME. You just have to know where the line is before the tonal sacrifice is very obvious and unacceptable. But there is a difference the lighter you go just based on the physics of it all. And I’m happy you’re enjoying your SW115. I’ve heard very good things about that cab.

Yeah I think it was a pun of sorts.

I have utmost respect for your cabinets. My pass was not based on weight, but rather on the somewhat low sensitivity for a 4-driver cabinet and the high roll off.

I think my main issue is with sealed cabinets. I don’t particularly like any of the SVT fridges I have used on backline.

I prefer the fEARful alignment over the newer Fearless alignment. I like a lot of low end. I use an Octaver, and play reggae fairly frequently. I’ve been doing it long enough to know what I like.

I have played through some of your ported cabinets that a friend has, two 112 cabinets (but not sure of the model) and I thought they were stellar!

Oh, I don't agree with one of the above posts, about one ported cab in particular, but also about almost all ported cabs for electric bass,
but I don't have time right now to post (and to watch for follow-ups and defend my post) properly.
Just see my sig, my opinion formed from first-hand experience.
Yes, it even applies to THAT brand you're thinking of.

I agree with @Jim Bergantino's previous two posts (and probably every other one too).
I hope to thank him by buying one of his sealed cabs someday.

EDIT: I believe "with perfect faith" that if Jim Bergantino had been able to keep the same sound quality while also making it lighter, he certainly could have done that. And I believe that he would have done it, given the market demands.

That's exactly it, sealed cabs are not for you. For those who like sealed, even five-stringers like me, the "natural HPF" works great to tighten up low end, which mitigates clash with the kick drum and keeps the live mix from getting too muddy in general.

Reggae is an unusual situation where powerful low-lows are welcome from bass guitar. IME sound techs generally want that from the FOH subs rather than the bass rig, but I get it, you can dial them back on your rig (perhaps with an electronic HPF) if necessary. So, go forth with "FRFR" and be happy.

No one has ever questioned the low end on our NV610 and the new NV410T is pretty much the same. My main point is that unless you’ve played thru the cab, you really can’t equate the spec to the experience. Not saying you will necessarily like it, but you may think the low end is more extended then the spec led you to believe. Also, a sealed cab may have a higher -3db point than a comparable ported cab, but because it rolls of at half the rate, it may have a lower -10db and below. Different design choices which appeal to different players. If done properly they all have merit and will attract various players.
And thank you for your kind words too!;-)

Earlier in the thread I had asked whether 48 Hz was the -3dB or -10 dB and many of the more knowledgeable posters here thought it was the -10 dB.

But I was also already aware that sealed cabinets roll off more gradually than ported ones do.

All things considered, I feel like I am much more likely to buy one of your ported 212 cabinets. Actually I will be heading down to visit a friend who lives at the beach and he just got one of your 210 cabinets. I am bringing my rig and we’re planning on doing a lot of mix and match listening tests.

He also has a Trickfish amp which we will compare to my Mesa and Quilter amps.

I hope his neighbors are forgiving, or deaf!

That YBA100 fits nicely 👍👍

Is that a Milkman bass head? Didn't know they make bass amps too. Lovely products but way out of my price range.

Killer taste in furniture!
