Best shoes for bass?

He's a spider at those indoor rock climbing facilities.

In a related story (and relative to what shoes to wear while playing bass), we had one of those indoor rock climbing walls on stage during our show. I had my toe shoes on, so I climbed half way up the wall, did an awesome 10 minute bass solo that caused the d string to finally break, I then grabbed the end of the d string and hurled the bass around in circles three times and then heaved it into the audience, and then I quickly scrambled up to the top of the wall and swan dove into the mosh pit below.

...and THAT is why I won't do two shows a night. I won't do it. I won't!

The PPQ shoes are not yet available to the public. They are still in beta testing (see previous posts by Basslice) so I can't comment on the synergistic effects of pairing. What I CAN tell you is that the LARC resin shoes that I have came with a warning label in the owner's manual that reads as follows:

"While wearing these shoes, do not attempt to place one foot on top of the other while performing, especially when playing a bass guitar equipped with a low B string. Such a maneuver could result in overpowering the low frequencys (below 40hz) to the point of causing internal damage to audience members in the first ten rows."

So you have to use due diligence when wearing the LARC's. I'm pretty sure the same will apply to the PPQ's when they become available.

Would it be possible to replace the shoestrings with either a .045 stainless steel G string or a .130 B string? Would the B string add to or counter the inherent low frequencies of the shoes such that "stacking" would be possible? Maybe a G string on the left shoe and a B or E string on the right shoe would balance the pair. When cleaning should you remove the strings before soaking in alcohol or does the shoe itself require cleaning also?

Being Vegetarian, I wear Saucony Jazz Vegan shoes. Don't want to kill poor little moo moos just so I can wrap them around my feet. But hey, do what YOU want to do. Not one of the preachy types.

Thank god.

Can't stand it when people go all "PETA".

Especially considering the animals are being killed for their meat and not using their hides would be even more disrespectful and even more wasteful than it already is.

Don't want to get too off topic, SHOES! But most of the cattle slaughtered for their meat, just have their carcasses thrown away. It seems counter productive to me that there would be one factory for leather where the meat is tossed and a seperate factory for meat where the hide gets tossed. Oh well watcha going to do?

I also Have a pair of New Balance 572s (synthetic USA made) but I save those for running the trails.

I use these on casual gigs with jeans. so freaking comfortable.
