how do you guys move these heavy cabs?

Wheels. Handles. Carts. Strong back. Strong friends.

Most of taller cabinets have tilt-back ability, so it's like asking how do you guys move a refrigerator on a dolly. You tilt it back and roll it around. When it's on its pivot point, there's really no weight, it's all balance.

Of course, getting it onto a stage might be interesting, but I've never had a problem.

sometimes leverage makes them easier to move than a small cab that must be dead lifted......lean it on the stage and lift the other end.....dollying up stairs is easy with two guys, and neither one has to lift much weight....the guy on the bottom just has to take the weight off a little as the tire rolls over the stair.....a little organization can make the work a lot easier

you designed the mockingbird? jeez, no wonder you can afford all those pres ;)

yes, i did. Bernie was a good friend of mine for 25 years, but could be a pretty shady character at times. he was supposed to only make ONE bass and ONE guitar of them (mine). it was originally called the 'go-go' model (my nickname was johnny go-go back then) and later Neil Mosher renamed it the 'Mockingbird' because with all of its splitter/phase/varitone and boost circuits, it could 'mock' almost any bass, and all of his guitars at that time had 'bird' names (i.e 'seagull', and the 'eagle'). and then in '76, with the mockingbird's success, realizing that Bernie was open to new designs, Neil design the 'Rich Bich'.

that's pretty cool, john. mockingbird was my favorite of the bc rich guitars. had a look that was way different but not so whacked out and pointy like most rich guitars.

Those are all LFs? Now where will the high and mid come from? interesting ...

I don't know if they're LFs or not. It's loaded with whatever their stock Eminence 12 inch bass speakers are.

As far as the price goes, I thought it was very fair considering it's a hand made, original looking product. Shipping was actually more than 10% of the cost of the cab, also. The pictures really don't do it justice. When it arrived I literally sat in my living room staring at it for 30 minutes just taking in the details. Dovetailed joints, poplar hardwood fronts, antiqued screws...it's probably twice as nice to look at in person.

Oh, and I'm sure those guys get a bulk discount on Eminence speakers. My cab was packed in THREE LAYERS of taped together Eminence speaker boxes.

Anyway back to big cabs...

well, it was pretty pointy (say that 5 times fast), but i was 22 years old at the time and thought i'd design something radical looking. i borrowed some of the curves from a t-bird ( inverted body) and a ricky 4001 which i had at the time.

Just thinking aloud and trying to rough a price. I guess you need to ask the user the question - I guess they could be 3012HOs - but unless you open the Emporer up who know's what's inside. I doubt if it costs $1000 as others have said, that it's loaded with 3012s of any sort. if it's 120lbs could be a quad of a traditional magnet set of Eminence 12's - cheaper to buy for the maker. You'll ofetn frind that manufacturers dance the dance of the seven viels rather than fess up to what they have installed, hiding behind an OEM badge in the guise of Made fo xxx by Eminence(whoever). Getting the spec can be a real surprise as I found with my OEM manufactured speakers by Sica. Not a nice surpries either.

I guess I meant to say, what are you hauling these cabs with... can you get 4-4x12 cabs in your datsun?

I have a Dodge Caliber and I could get, with the seats down, my 1x18 and 2x10 combo in back and still had rooms for my effects board, two basses and bag-o-cables.

I have a smallish 4 door hatchback. The GK 412's fit with room to spare. I can even fit an Ampeg 8x10, but just barely. If it were even an inch taller I'd be SOL.

i used to own a peavey 4x10 tvx that weighed nearly 120 pounds. it was definitely easier to get my friends ampeg 8x10 on stage alone than my 4x10. with the towel bar you could pull it over the edge of the stage fairly easy, where dead lifting the 4x10 was my least favorite part of gigging.
