This one STILL brings back very fond memories...

The cab, cover and shipping came out to be about a thousand dollars.

YIKES. See, I've read so many different prices for their cabs. I've seen as low as 500 for their guitar 4x12's and 700 for some bass cabs.

Of course, I'm only about 45 minutes from Chicago, so I could pick up anything I had made and not have to deal with shipping. Sure that would shave a bit off. Also read they'll do deals for big orders.

My current dream rig is all Emperor, 2 square 4x15's and 4 square 4x12's (2 sealed 2 ported) with three tube amps to run it all.

I need to win the lottery or somethin'. haha

Kinda reminds me of Entwistle's Hiwatt rig.

You'll definitely save a bunch on shipping. I think I paid $125 to get mine shipped.

That Emporer cab has to be about $1000+ to make commercial sense. 4x 3012LFs at 180 each 720. Box wood and covering and handles, connectors grill - say another $140. So $860 in parts + labour & overheads at $20 an hour - say 3 hours = $920 and then add a margin. So say 15% margin on each cab They'd also make a margin on all the parts because they'd buy them wholesale = $140 that comes to $1060 How's that?

Wholesale on the 3012's would be less than $120. My friend has a wholesale account and can get 3015's for $105 a piece. I highly doubt they can cover overhead and labor at $60 a cab though for a 4x12.

Just trying to rough out some numbers - don't really know the throughput on cabs or what guys add as overheads. If we were talking like a lot of tech or auto industries we'd add 100% at the gate and the distribution would add another 100% - so this cab would cost $1000 to make and $3000 to buy at a dealer. To do that you need big numbers and market share and a World of bass players who think your cheaply made cabs and amps are the 'dog's tackle'. I don't think anyone has quite pulled that marketing position yet. High price; cheap production.
