What's the difference between a fixie and a single speed? Fixed chain?
Stupid-sounding kinda-of-topic question...
Last night, I swear that I put up a response to 4Mals's asking about Spec. BG shoes, suggesting that he look at Carnacs. That post should be on this page and #572-573 or so...does anyone remember seeing this post? I'm not bitching that I've been edited, BTW, I'm wondering if this has anything to do with a server problem occurring on a different forum that I'm staff on. I realize that the chances of this being connected to a totally different site are basically 0.000, but seriously weird stuff is happening Over There, and we're trying to chase down any possibility, however unlikely it may be.

I have a 70s Raleigh Professional Track bike- a fairly high-end genuine track bike w/damn-near-90 degree head & seat tube angles, sewup tires & mostly vintage Campy parts. It's a 56, IIRC, but I'll measure it later, if you're interested.
Thanks.I did not see said post, & I'm always here.

Hard to tell definitely from those pics but from what I can see of the rear drop-out, it's a no-big-deal frame and almost definitely NOT a Paramount; the rear hub may be an older low-end Suzue fixie...if so, it's a nice hub. Suzue makes some good stuff - my current fixie rear hub is a low-end Suzue; it looks like it's got cheapo stamped-steel rat-trap pedal on it. In general, I'm guessing that the bike in general is another version of the current 'fix'd-kulture-kool' bikes. I am curious as to that those blue tires actually are, tho...Does anyone have opinions one this?
I've been a long time Sidi guy and kinda had my nose up at the BG stuff. That was whack! Those BG Pro's seem to be right on par ...
I think it might be a widespread shortage: I've been looking for a pair of BG Pro's in size 44 for the past 3 months, and no one here has them either!
Generically, Sidi/Shimano/Lake fits avg. to narrow feet better (which is why I LOVE my Sidi shoes); Carnac/Northwave/Spec. BG fit avg to wider better, and I've not had hands-on experience with Mavic's shoes so...dunno.
I'll admit that I'm not a fan of the BG stuff in general (personal opinion only in saying that I HATE the saddles); for the same money, there are a number of other options available...I'd suggest at least looking at the Carnac line before deciding.
Sidi does offer a large version of their shoes tho, no?
If by Large you mean wide, yes - they are called Megas.
Large, wide...same stuff![]()

Be sure those helmet straps are tight. if you need it, you want the brain bucket to stay in place ...
