OK...sometime in the past year or so, I may (or may not) have touched a bike part or two. Maybe.
Beyond that, I really can't say.
Also is there any shop that sells only the clamp of the bike stands? It would be way cheaper to weld a straight post to a metal sheet and then put a clamp on that rather then buy the full stand. Kinda annoying to work without one.
My dad already has all the tools that aren't bike specific, so I can take my time buying these as I'm not leaving home really soon.

Nice pair! That Rivendell is gorgeous. A friend of mine is supposed to be getting one of those this month, I think he had a two year wait. I'm also a fan of Bridgestone's, since my #2 bike is a 1985 Bridgestone 600.
You cant go wrong with Japanese lugged steel from the 80's and 90's.
