Just ordered a BBox made from zebra-wood.(I WANTED to order a bass...but can't come up with the funds yet!) I'm REALLY curious to see what the box will do for my 2 Carvins...one is an active fretless...the other a passive fretted. I VERY MUCH appreciate Scott and his helpfulness both E-Mail and over the phone. Also I APPRECIATE Ben for his helpfulness both on the phone and E-mails. I HOPE to be a part of the club soon.

BBoxes get you into the club. :-) I like having low standards. Fill us all in what you find the BBox does for both of your Carvins.

Glad you're keeping your standards low:p No really I was wondering if some of you would comment on your guitars and how they SOUND...(I KNOW they look WONDERFUL to me,but I'm TRULY interested in the sound....I've spent 35 years searching for a certain sound...and if these guitars sound like the clips,I may have NEARLY completed my quest....NEARLY meaning I need to put together the dollars.) I've been VERY impressed with Scott, both over the phone, and through E-mails...I'm hoping to do business soon.:)

kent...email Scott and he will sent you a free Cd full of sound clips...you will be in heaven and really start to save for a Birdsong after you listen to it!!!!!

Sorry for the delay in getting pictures up, studying for AP biology test is so much fun:p.

After toying with it for about a week, I am starting to notice slight differences in my tone with each setting. I advise anybody who gets a Bbox to play with it for more than a day before posting a review.

There were two Bboxes out of the latest batch that were among my all time favorites. Yours is the first. #31 is the other - that's the one my guitarist has on reserve. Very nice.

You want comments on the sound?

My Cortofusion has the Bbox varitone rather than Scott's usual varitone, and has the mild Lace humbucker at the neck, rather than the pickup he finally settled on for the fusions starting with Ben's (#2). Because the pickup isn't overpowered for the location, it isn't a "mudbucker" as that position can often lead to. The bypass setting is wide open, clean, full, and useful in a LOT of situations. Setting 3 (the bbox "infinity") is my go-to for rock where I want to be heard but not raise my profile too high - a standard bass-in-supporting-rock-or-blues tone. Setting 4 is just a touch deeper, while setting 5 is where I'd go for dub.

As much as the Cortofusion prototype is "my voice" on fretted bass, my fretless is just "my voice." No tone knob or varitone. The Lace single coil soloed is one of my favorite bass tones ever. With the BBox, I can get versatile enough that I don't need to take the fretted bass along with me for when I don't want to be too obvious with the fretlessness. I had to raise the bridge pickup about 2 screw turns to get the output level I wanted. I'd say I go "neck pickup only" about 50-60% of the time, "bridge pickup only" 5% and both pickups the rest.

I am really jealous of those who are getting in-process pictures of their new bass! I ordered my Cortobass, 7C-101, back in May (after visiting the workshop in March, and then selling some of my basses to pay for my Birdsong). I have not seen any pictures as of yet. My bass is in "finishing" (where it has been for a few weeks now), and I am impatiently anticipating my new arrival!

Call Scott and Jamie and ask for a picture or two. Tell them that "Andrew Lee says you must send me in-process pictures or the monkey is coming out there for some payback noogies."

They'll understand. You post a picture and I'll give you the club membership number. :D

HenfieldJ: Looks like your blackwashed beauty C101 is on display on the client page now! :)

Andrew can keep the monkey at home.

Oh - the monkey is getting her payback, come hell or high water. Beckwith has some atomic noogies coming his way.

Here is the monkey, in her Captain Hook Halloween costume and prepared for war.

(I'm bummed...I couldn't find the picture I have of her rockin' out on her pink Les Paul)

LOL; very cute.

Make sure you bring her with you when you come over to check out my Cortobass; you know she hated leaving last time. :)

My cherry-oh-cherry-oh-baby C105 has been in "finishing" for a week or so; should be heading to assembly soon. Getting closer!
