Thanks DeanT--and Blackcrayon--I have been wanting a better bass for a year--I thought about Carvin and Yamaha and have been checking out Birdsong but when my wife gave me money for Christmas I thought what the heck--I'll go for the Birdsong. :D

I'm happy to hear that everything is going better ben!

Pandapaul--I watched your youtube video----AMAZING!!
that was fantastic--sure beats the hell out of my E-A-D chord progression. :)

Awwww shucks, Rathole. Heheh. I really appreciate it! I had a lot of fun making those youtube videos. Of course, I always have fun when I'm playing my 'Fusion.

And, Ben! I am so very, very glad to hear that your health has improved. It's a true delight to hear things are looking bright for a truly delightful person.

Take care Birdsongers,
Paul

Oh:
My HS band was playing at a ball game Wednesday night.

The Ref came hustling over to me before the game, and I figgered he was going to tell me "don't play at such n such time" or something like that. Instead he said "Hey, is that a (*I can't remember what brand*)?" I said no, told him it was a Birdsong, and we spent some time chatting about basses, since he was a bass player. He said he wanted to to get something like this, and I gave him Scott's site.

My bass is the coolest in the world:cool:

But I don't think I am taking the Corto to any more ball games... too many basketballs and sweaty high schoolers flying around...

Short scale or medium scale, which fit the Birdsong best?

I suggest using long scale strings and following Scott's restringing instructions here: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

That page has all relevant information regarding what strings are on Birdsongs and how to handle them. Personally I like a pretty light gauge string, and I found my fingers tiring quickly when tapping the medium gauge chromes.

With Chromes, it depends on if you are okay with going string-through with flatwounds. I've only ever used long scale Chromes on my Birdsongs - when I toploaded, I clipped the strings. I've been stringing through exclusively for the last two years.

If I went back to toploading, I'd get Medium scale.
