Black P-Bass Pickguard Poll

Which pickguard?

I got a FGN P-Bass and replaced the neck with a CS jazz neck.

It feels like my beloved CS Jazz and sounds like how I want my jazz neck pickup to sound. Might replace the pickup with Aguilar though, not sure yet.

Anyway; can't decide on pickguard color and need fellow TB opinions. For the record; I play rock, blues and latin-jazz at this time.

Tort will help your bass look a tad bit more authentic because your headstock logo and tuners are early '60s-style and Fender did not use 3-ply black pickguards till the mid '70s, plus the contrast will help the overall colour 'pop' a little more

Then again, it's a Jazz neck on a Precision body, so black could help it look more 'personalised' to you

Either way will look awesome

I have two with black, one with tort. I like both, but while with maple necks I prefer black, I don't have a clear favorite with a rosewood neck. But I still chose black :D

This is exactly where I stand. They both look great so there's no "wrong" answer. When in doubt, go black and you'll be fine.

Black on black only looks good up close. From a distance you can't tell if it has a PG or it just a black bass.
Personally, I don't like black PG's except on certain colors, and black is NOT one of them.
Tort on black is beautiful from any distance.

I am the exact opposite, I think that a black PG on a black bass looks the best, and a tort PG looks better on lighter coloured basses especially white. I also prefer brown tort over red tort
