Not only vented systems are "tuned"
Btw. I don't think the Fb of an SVT810 is 55hz, it's probably a little higher.

Well, most people refer to "tuning of a cab" when it is ported, so I do understand your reply on the SVT810.
And a sealed design isn't really considered "tuning", so it can be confusing.

Yea....89 to my door. Had some eBay bucks available too so it got it down to $68. Very digestible.

Why did Avatar recommend the Delta 12 LFC? It will run out of breath (xmax) really quick when you use it as a sub, absolutely not my recommendation.

We came to the conclusion that the deltaLFC would probably blow eventually too. I'm going to find a speaker protection device and install it in the signal path.maybe avoid all this later.

Gentlemen, I spoke with Dave at avatar speakers today. He recommended the eminence delta 12 LFC. I will likely add a high pass filter so that I don't blow it. Driver is capable of 1100 W peak 500 RMS. As the carvin puts out 450W @4ohms,it should be a nice match. I'm hoping to get at least a few years out of it.

You won't. This whole rig approach is a terrible idea. If you want to biamp then forget that 1x12" cab. There are a handful of 12" drivers on the market that could work as the bottom of a biamp bass rig but none of them will perform to their ability in that enclosure and all of them are expensive - but probably no more expensive than the total of the numerous cheaper drivers you keep blowing!

Your Avatar 12 has about 64 liters of net internal volume and is tuned to about 54 Hz by my measurements. Tightly plugging one side of the shelf port brings the tuning down to about 38 Hz. I haven't modeled the Delta 12 LFC in that box volume or with either tuning but that's what you'll want to do before laying out any $ for another woofer. Remember, the wattage rating on these drivers is thermal only (what it will take to melt the voice coil) and has nothing to do with whether it can handle any low frequencies at any particular volume. You only get those numbers when you perform the software modeling. If you don't know how to do that, you'll need to learn or ask nicely for someone here to do it for you. Good luck, Bob

Just stop biamping and that's the problem solved. The only speaker protection device that I'd trust for this job is the Eminence D-Fend but I don't think they're currently available (and they're expensive anyway).

I stop biamping and the sound goes from glorious to mediocre. Putting full range in that ampeg really changes the clarity and crispness I get when biamped. I have yet to play a full range cab that sounds as good as these two when biamped. Im not going full range again. Did it for 30 years and have never had a bass sound this good.

If mobility is the priority then biamping is the wrong thing to be doing. To put things in perspective, our tiny One10 cab is capable of greater bass output than your 4x8+1x12 biamped stack. Run both cabs full-range.

If you need to biamp to get a decent midrange sound out of the 4x8 cab then something is wrong with your system or the 8" drivers are inappropriate for a bass rig.

Don't you think I would if I got anywhere NEAR the incredible clarity, punch I get with this rig? Who wants the headache of having to replace a driver Every year or two? I cannot express how much better this sounds versus a full range cabinet. It's something that you would probably have to experience yourself with these cabinets and this head. And I have run these full range using the same set up. The difference is astonishing. I will keep trying to solve the problem using the best lower frequency cabinet I can find eventually. For now I'll see how this LF driver works out

I guarantee I have heard many cleaner clearer louder deeper rigs which are half the size of your current stack, none of which were biamped.

In looking at the fearful cabinet design for thier 12 inch sub it is remarkably similar to the avatar. And also uses the same Delta 12 LFC.

It's just a technical assessment comparing the volume displacement of the 1x12" woofer to the One10's driver. If the rig was run full-range then it would be a very different matter! No One10s on the Barefaced user map in the Netherlands yet but I think some are already there, the owners just haven't signed up.

No, it'll be fine. But it still isn't a good idea because that 12" will do the mids better than your 4x8, so you might as well leave the 4x8 at home.

Clear, I was assuming the 4x8 ran fullrange.

No One10s on the Barefaced user map in the Netherlands yet but I think some are already there, the owners just haven't signed up.
