Borat Got a Beating!

True, although the film doesn't show the worst in people all of the time. Like the woman running the lawn sale who he calls a gypsy, and the Jewish family, seemed to take it well, or just ignore what he did. Still, even though he did show the worst in some people, I don't think he deserved getting assaulted for it. (there should be a point in there somewhere)

Your both right here, it is really just a film about the cheap laughs, but if you can disengage your brain for a couple of hours then it is a funny film, but I can definatley see how it would offend many people.

Thing is...he didn't get assaulted because he made the movie. He got assaulted because messed around with a random person, assuming they'd know who he was and would get the joke.

Sorry, but that's just stupid.

I won't comment on the movie or the man, since it seems like a hot topic right now, but I will say that I enjoyed witnessing two WHOLE families (wife and kids) walk out of the movie theatre during the fight scene.

That might just have been funnier to see than the movie!

Well - of course it's all about money - but that's no reason to go see it or think it is any way a good film - and there was a time when Cohen was actually making points - not just going for the cheap laughs...:hmm:

I think he got what he deserved - it's poetic justice!!

"Those who live by the sword....."

+1 and then some. I enjoyed the Ali G show and much of the videos posted of him discussing political topics and they had a meaning behind it. Now it seems dumbed down and picking on any target...whats next handicaped people, children.....how low does it go.

Thing is I really enjoyed his earlier stuff now it is just low bro.

But there's no question it is unpopular in Eastern Europe and banned in many countries - like Russia!

The Indian Sub Continent has one of the biggest audiences for movies and it hasn't reached there yet! :eyebrow:

Or is your definition of "international" = America and UK...:hmm:

Can you name any of the other countries it's banned in?
I only heard about Russia.

America & the UK IS international.
INTER-NATIONAL.

Also,
'Live by the sword, die by the sword'?
He made a joke & got physically assaulted!

To quote Indigo Mantoya:
'I do not think it means what you think it means'.

True, that is international. It's just not necessarily global or world-wide.

He should've been attacked with a joke, actually.

So I should change my thoughts on this because daddy lived next to a Jewish family and once lived in Iraq? And before I start complaining I should look into other cultures.

Please elaborate.

With respect, you assuming everyone who enjoys this film is a low brow ******* incapable of seeing real humor, because somehow living in your magical country of intellectuals gives you a natural advantage over the rest of us, taking some form of cultural high ground... that is bullcrap. what I tried to get you to realise (and obviously failed) was that if you really knew about other cultures, you'd appreciate that some people from cultures that are supposedly being misrepresented might not actually be misrepresented at all.

+1 to Jauqo

err.. I thought it was funny he got attacked... I am not sure how I would react if someone didn't recognize behaved strangely and wanted to "have sex with my clothes" or something. Maybe the attacker felt threatened.

joke's on him?

Really though, why was he dressed as Borat with no cameras around? That sounds kind of suspect.

No need to be (this is the only way I could think of to describe it) humor nazis guys. If he makes you laugh, good. If he doesn't, oh well. Not your kind of humor. Just don't watch it, you don't need to tell everyone that thinks it is funny that they don't know what real humor is and everything. Not everyone in the world is going to think the same things are funny. And no, I haven't seen the movie. So I don't know if I think it's funny or not.

About the article itself, if it's true, that's pretty pathetic that someone would physically attack him. It is kind of funny how he chose the one person that obviously doesn't know who Borat is, though.
