Boss GT-10B

Answer to both questions is YES.
1) the CTL pedal functions under Pedal/Fx will be used for LED function only, set to "led toggle", and i think there is also a setting where the led status can be flipped to one half of the CTL toggle cycle or the other.
2) use 4 assigns, all with Source mode set to toggle, 2 with CTL 1 as the Source, other 2 with CTL 2 as the source.
Then for the CTL 1 assigns, one Target se to FX1 on/off, the other Target set to Chorus on/off.
For the CTL 2 assigns, set one Target to FX2 on/off, the other Target to Chorus on/off.
With all the assigns, check that the Assign is "enabled" too.
now quickly press the Write button twice to save the settings.

Might be a good idea to check theat the pedal functions in the System menu are set to Patch, or the pedal functions could be globally over-ridden there.

Hi gumtownbassman.

Thanks for your answers.
About the LEDs, that's great, I missed that in the manual. Do I have to do it for each patch or will it be global?

Regarding Q2, I thought the same, but when I press CTRL2 (CTRL1 allready on) it switches the CHO off, because it toggles it's actual status...

I'll try tonight again, maybe I missed something...

Thanks again.

1) The setting is not global, so you will need to do the same for each patch.

2) that scenario was sitting in the back of my mind, there is an alternative.

3) MANUAL MODE, there is a way to set an Assign so that when you are not playing, the GT-10 is in patch change mode and the pedals do the normal patch change thing.
The with an Assign set so the Source = Input Level, and the Target = Manual Mode (source mode = moment), then when you start playing, the GT-10B switches to Manual Mode, and all the patch change pedals become effect on/off pedals. You could then predefine which effect each pedal will switch in manual mode, and stick a label on each pedal for easy reference. This will let you switch the chorus separately..:bassist:

Is it possible to disable all effects and get a clean bass signal to the amp using the four-cable setup?
It would be, I guess, going from a wet to a dry output signal.
I'd like to be able to switch back and forth from a patch to a bass input as if I wasn't using the GT-10B at all.
I've been all through the manual and can't seem to find any reference to this.
TIA !

I'd think you could simply turn OFF all of the effects. Alternatively, try using the TUNER in Bypass mode - BAM! you're sending out a dry signal.

Thanks for the idea, Gastric.
In the meantime, I came up with this solution when connecting with the 4-cable method to my Mesa M6 Carbine.
On the GT-10B, I assigned the Send/Return command to the CTL 1 pedal.
That switches back and forth between the amp head and the GT-10B.
In other words, one way I have full use of the GT-10B through the Mesa's power amp, with zero amp controls, and when I press CTL 1 again, I get zero GT-10B FXs in the amp, and control reverts to the Mesa head.
There may well be other ways to do the switch, but so far this works fine.
I've found my one-pedal solution to switching.

Hello there. I just want to share with all you guys a patch i created with the GT-10B. It's inspired in the Simon Gallup sound. He is the bass player from The Cure. Great basslines.

Here you can have a little flanger and a huge sound.

Hope you like it!

Hey all,
I know that people have been a little confused about how to hook the GT10B up to a live bass rig. (head and cabinet) I have played with several options and really wanted to have my sound from my head unaltered and be able to switch over to the effects section of the head to use the GT10B. What I did is:

Equipment: Ampeg SVT4Pro, SWR Goliath III cabinet, GT10B, Fender Bass

Bass into Ampeg Input
Ampeg effects loop send into the GT10B input
GT10B output into Ampeg effects loop return A/Mono right

(note. If you are biamping you my have to alter effects loop return hook up. you can go left and right out of GT10B into Ampeg Effects loop return A and B. )

This setup takes three cables and allows you to completely elliminate GT10B by bypassing effects on the Ampeg Head. When you activate effects loop on ampeg it causes GT10B to control sound and you can even decrease volume and mute when tuning. I can also mute the head in both seting with the mute on the Ampeg.
I have altered some of the patched for this setup removing the preamp because I am using the Ampeg as preamp. Love the sound and flexability.

BTW: Your Ampeg Direct out is not colored by effects either way. Great live setup.

If you want a setup simular to what you have, but a bit more flexable, then try four cable method (4cm).

Fender bass >>> GT-10B input,
GT-10B Send >>> Ampeg front input,
Ampeg Fx Send >>> GT-10B Return,
GT-10B L/Mono output >>> Ampeg Fx Return.

This allows the S/R effect block to become the ampeg preamp, and is movable around anywhere in the GT-10B chain, so you can place effects before or/and after the preamp.
You need to enable the S/R effect block for every patch and disable the onboard preamp.
But it does also give you the option to switch out the ampeg preamp and use one of the GT-10B ones, but if you use one of the 10B preamps, switch off the speaker sim.

There is a link in my signature below for a free graphical realtime patch editor software for the GT-10B.:hyper:

Thanks Gumtown. I will try this. So if I move the send/ return in the patch editor on the GT10B it is like moving the Ampeg preamp? Really cool. I tried this set up once before but for some reason I ran into problems with noise after enabling send/return on GT10B. Ill check cables and hook up. Does it affect the DI on the Ampeg?
Most live sound guys want DI uncolored along with effected sound.

BTW have some really cool patches coming your way. Im working on simulated amps and cabinets using the staple sound of that brand. I have based it on downloaded recordings of the amp demos from the manufactures.
Example:
U1:1 Ampeg SVT into Ampeg 810 Dry
U1:2 Ampeg SVT Chorus and Delay switchable
U1:3 Ampeg SVT High Gain into 810 (Dist, Delay, Flange)
U1:4 Ampeg SVT Solo
U2:1 GK ect.....

Should be about a month or so before Im ready to post. Going through all the common rigs. I think it would be great to for people wish to build a virtual rig.

Do you need a tester?

I would love to have your patches that simulate Ampeg SVT!!
