Bourbon...

Friends gave me a bottle of Four Roses single barrel for my birthday, very tasty! 
In Peterborough NH, a restaurant called Cooper's Hill Public House had the last bottling of George T. Stagg. They had the William Larue Weller also but it didn't quite measure up to the Stagg in my estimate.
Old Grandad 114 is an affordable hidden gem. I got hip to it watching the "workin' man's whiskey" reviews on YouTube.

Thankfully this is not a bourbon story. Several years ago, I was given afifth of crown royal. Took to an elderly gentleman's house. About 3 months later, I went by the gentleman's house to collect my non-bourbon. Only a shot, and that was short shot was left. I had the last of the bottle. The crown royal disappeared a teaspoon at a time in morning coffee. I can't blame the gentleman, as he had previously emptied about of a third of a bottle of 12 year old scotch. (The scotch was also a gift). Got a bottle of two fingers tequila where the unopenned bottle is 9 years old.
Now a bourbon story,
One of my co-workers had a son born on thanksgiving. He didn't hand out cigars, but miniatures of wild turkey. At least one of his coworkers left the small bottle on the seat the car. That coworker had wild turkey cologne for a couple weeks. Now that's a sad bourbon story (story is true).

I've been gone from TB for a while, but I have returned because I like bourbon.

I might as well mention that I've been making my Manhattans with Bulliet Bourbon for the past few months. I don't think it gets much better.
I wouldn't worry about the Old Grand Dad 114 being hard to find. The rumor that it would be discontinued turned out to be false. There were at least 8 bottles of it on the shelf at my state liquor store last I checked. I think the rumor was a stunt to drive up demand. These guys fell for it. See at about 12:10
Have any basse players tried this stuff? It is bottled by one of my favorite beer brewers, New Holland. They don't sell it locally. If I want to try it, I have to drive about 70 miles. Is it worth the trip?
Looks like I will be driving about 170 miles round trip to pickup a few bottles of Beer Barrel Bourbon.
It has to be good, right?
First, they use freshly charred barrels to age bourbon.
Second, they use the same barrels to age Dragon's Milk Stout.
Third, they use the same barrels to age more bourbon, although I don't think it is technically bourbon if the barrels are used.
Until then, I am low on Bulliet, but I have plenty of Evan Williams green label as a backup.
