Bourbon...

Since Jack Daniels came up, I'll share this....
I'm sitting in a plane bound for Houston right now. I was asked if I'd like anything to drink before the flight departs.
I ask for bourbon. The flight attendant laughs and says the closest she can get is JD. I say fine and request it neat.
She said to me.....'oh, you want it straight'.
She comes back with maybe a shot in a plastic cup. No biggie. As I pick it up, it feels cold. I take a drink, and it's ice cold.
It's straight alright, but it's not neat.

Excellent.

New on the market and from a local business, this stuff has been creating quite a buzz around here lately (pun intended) so I finally decided to try it. I'm usually a Jack drinker, but this is much better than I expected.

Has anyone tried the Bonded Bourbons.

I'm looking at Old Forestor's I'm also trying to find Bib & Tucker 6 year old.

Any comments on these would be welcome.

I've had Bulleit many times, but never their Rye, at least until recently. I thought it was thoroughly fantastic. The spiciness of the rye works so well with the sweetness of an Old Fashioned. A dash or two of orange bitters and I'm a happy drunk.

I picked up a bottle of Evan Williams Single Barrel 2004 a few weeks back. I'd highly recommend it. That being said, I'm a fan of Evan's black label as well, so take that recommendation with a grain of salt.

Thus far I've developed a liking for Buffalo Trace, Bulliet & Knob Hill. Jack & Jim were ok, but those 3 are so much better. Just starting my bourbon journey, please excuse my ignorance

I'm working my way through three Colorado bourbons I just picked up.
The Deerhammer, then the four grain and Triticum Wheat from A.D. Laws.
Always neat for me, but I don't force that on others. Well, after they at least try it neat first.

I sampled these recently.....

Of the three, I found the Gibson to be the smoothest and the Redemption to have the most flavor. All three were sampled neat.

I have been on a Rye kick as of late. Life is too short for cheap whiskey. Yes Bulliet is good. So is Crown Royal Rye and a few others. The taste of Bourbon always reminds me of a whiskey hang over. But a good Rye is heaven.
