Brian Bromberg Carvin Model Part 2

pream01.jpg

dgce - definitely not a push-pull Icon preamp

+1!

Those are definitely not the usual pickups, but it is definitely the correct preamp for the single coil pickups. The perpendicular circuit board is for the active volume knob. The Icon one used with humbuckers is 2 parallel boards, like the pic below:

Mr. B rocks!

+1!

Thanks all. I guess what really has me pissed me off was the fact that when the bass arrived in July and I saw the flat pickup covers, I called Carvin and was told the pickups were the correct ones, and were curved underneath the flat covers. Never having actually seen the Rad-J's in person, I believed him.

Bprichard, there are sometimes customer service reps at Carvin who know less than you would hope about their product. This doesn't happen often, fortunately. I know Carvin will make tis good for you, but it is a shame that someone assured you they were the right pickups when they weren't. Carvin makes such great products, it's just too bad that small detail stuff gets messed up once in a while. When I got my SB4000, which is a beautiful bass with fantastic craftsmanship, the battery box wasn't screwed in properly and was dangling off the instrument. It took me 30 seconds with a screw driver to fix, but it was just crazy. Like getting a brand new Ferrari that was perfect except that the door handle was loose. :/

Anyway, you have a beautiful bass, and it won't take much to get the right pickups in there since the routing is the same. Enjoy it for years to come!

Brian, I'd say do both if the company can justify the investment (tho I know how those kinds of things go).

I'd personally love a 6 string model, just speaking for myself. And I'd sell children if it had an asymmetric neck profile like the 5-string wide neck on the other Carvins.

Bolt ons would be a great idea too. Since I'm an FL player, tho, I wouldn't have a preference for the number of frets.

If Carvin comes out with those two models I may have to start hocking all my current stuff!

LS

The ONLY reason I dont own two of these is because I need a 6 string. PLEASE MAKE 6 STRING VERSION!!!!!

Well, I drooled over pics of Bromberg basses in this forum the whole weekend and the obsession just could not be contained: just now pulled the trigger on a custom built Bromberg B25.

I just turned 41. I'm a father of two little guys, a husband, and a fan of all things bass (including Bass on the Broadband). This is my first custom purchase. Have played my ol' Fender P-Bass and a Schecter 5-string for years, but . . . you only live once, baby!!!

I like the look of natural woods so that's the way I went on the options. Will post pics when I receive. Yee-haw!!!!!

Josh (the funky lawyer)

Josh, you should check out the Facebook page too. I've seen some other very nice Brombergs on there in the last week or two. One of them is probably yours!
