Broughton Audio Super Thread

OH, ok - well EQ wise the 3leaf has it beat, I'd say the V1 and 1.2 Messenger are more comparable in features, aside from that all important phone jack. Messenger is a very transparent preamp, very modern IMO - but don't get it twisted, I use one every day, March 5th there will be more and I bet a decent chance at getting one
I'm using the Enabler as an end of chain reshaper and like that it doesn't color my tone too much. What I read about the Messenger seems to confirm that it offers very close to that and the filters. I'd love to try it. But yeah March 5th I'll try to buy one if I can't find one before that.

Just stay on your toes that day, I wouldn't predict them disappearing in minutes like other pedals. Don't forget about the switch inside, I use mine as EQ defeat, works great downstream

*sigh* It's going to be until I'm retired from the military before I'll be able to snag a new Broughton gadget that isn't an HPF or LPF.

It's time for me to unwatch this thread. My desire for an RFE *ALMOST* made me regret flying an airplane that says "UNITED STATES AIR FORCE" on the side of it this morning. *ALMOST*. I have a job that people shaging dream about, and never get the opportunity to do so for reasons well beyond their control, and some within,- and here I am thinking, "Dammit skeds, why did you put me on the first go on Friday?!"

So it's time to walk away.

If I ever want the greatest bass ever built- Keith Roscoe will build me one, and I won't have to play a bunch of shag shag games to get one.

BTW- my wife just asked me- "Hey Skip, which of your favorite bassists use that thing you want?" Me: "None?" Her: "Interesting..."

Fly safe, check six, Skip's out.
JoshWah is still in stock.

Ok, yeah I was just reading, TM'd and everything. I know the Monocomp has a personality about the attack/release too, once it gets to squashing quick it takes a min to die down. One thing I wish monocomp had was a input/sensitivity ect., you can't control signal on the front end, aside from changing the voltage/power supply, I definitely have to be careful how things are before the pedal or the character completely changes to NO comp to ALL the comp, but manageable - I still think even with the EQ flat it sounds amazing at high power supply/high input signal
That's the beauty of the clean blend though. Even when it's squashing hard, you can adjust your Comp level down a bit and bring your Dry level up to compensate.

Board update- traded my solarian for the calamity. It arrived today and im very happy with it! Love the blend.

Can you push the gain all the way without it breaking up 100%? That's what I like to imagine would happen, I'll soon have mine up there as well, typical active bass has mine at about 3 right now

Close, but maybe not quite all the way. It really depends on where the level is set. You still can't, and I wouldn't expect to either, be able to max gain and level. Things get kinda ugly then. Kinda one or the other to get it how your talking

That's why I just sold my Enabler and HPF+LPF; for me the Messenger V3 does almost everything that they both do, in a single box. I've been trying to simplify and streamline my setup. I will miss the deep switch on the Enabler, but having the filters in the same pedal is just more convenient. The Enabler can get a bit of warmth with the gain higher, but the Messenger is crystal clean without sounding sterile. Love it.
