There seems to be apprehension on everyones part to do the right thing. If i bought a bass with a pickguard I would likely not remove it to check for extraneous drill holes that were undisclosed when purchased.

Not really. But situations and excuses that make no sense make my brain hurt. I'm compelled to draw out logic. It's a problem I have.

True, it was a busy time and I had no reason to take the pickup cover off or take to a Luthier.

The first post in your FS thread for this bass mentions a blemish that your luthier stated would cost $30 to fix. Did you or did you not take it to a luthier?

@Session1969 - I am trying to figure out if there was any intentional wrong doing by anyone, so please reply to this. What proof do you have that the bass was damaged (or not in the promised condition) when you got it from Seabassman84. I believe that extra drill holes were discovered while in Jared's possession, but what concrete evidence do you have that they were done by Seabassman84? Why didn't your luthier make any note of any of the other listed issues here when you took it for inspection. They seem like fairly obvious problems.

My luthier take note??? I was in there for the truss rod issues and the neck. Holes are there bigger than heck, he confirmed the truss rod issue and found the fretboard issue. whats there to make note of?

fair enough. do you see my point? i see yours that even though he wasnt responsible for the drill holes and neck and only knew about them when notified by the buyer that seller gets basically hosed by the previous seller.

Seabassman sold it to Session and misrepresented it. Session didnt know it. Session sold it to me, I and my luthier.found the misrepresentation. Session refunded me.

Yes, correct. It was a busy time for me and I did a horrible job inspecting the bass and didn't take to a luthier at all. I believe Seabassman knew about the drill holes because he nodded the bass with a new preamp and told that he does his own setups and what not . I don't and my luthier is 2 1/2 hours away. Not easy to just pop in there.

I think that what Bob is pointing out is that your FS thread (SOLD - Carvin SB5001) said, "there is a small indentation/scratch on the back of the neck (pictured and looks worse than it is) that I knew about when purchasing and my luthier told me it's a $30 fix." Now you say that you didn't take it to a luthier at all. There is a disconnect in your description.

if i call my luthier and tell him that there is a little ding in the neck he will ballpark me a price without having to take it in. I imagine this is a common practice

I remember session still had open dialog with seabassman regarding the 100 bucks that sea still owed him and was discussing the misrep that was put forth

I didn't take to my luthier. It was a very busy time for me. I was doing week long gigs and coming home and catching up on my contracting work. I played the bass a couple times and put it in the case.

Now, I just looked at one of the pics he sent me , along with the post that he bought it off of. It does show that there is a pickup cover on there when he had possession of it and not when he bought it. I didn't catch the discrepancy because the SB5001 that I had before came with a pickup cover , stock. Here's the pickup cover in photo that he did send me. What wasn't mentioned are the additional drill holes on each side of the bass underneath the pickup cover. I've included a pic of the other side of the bass as I didn't mean to duplicate the pic I posted.

Not at all. I took responsibility. I then contacted Seabassman to inform him of the discovery. I wanted to see if he'd do what's right, just as I did.

Do you feel that it was at all your responsibility to carefully inspect the bass before selling it regardless of how busy you were?

So, you and Jared were aware that the cover was mounted, which caused one set of holes. The issue here, beyond the functional but loose truss rod is the second set of holes??

And an allegedly warped neck that went unnoticed by session in the five weeks he owned it, though it seems the holes are the major area of concern.
