Can I swear on Talkbass?

Seriously? I thought that old meme of arguing in favor of incivility in the name of "being genuine" went out of vogue with the hippies back in the 60s.

That one sure brings back some memories of those days for me.

I guess we'll need to agree to disagree on that point. But thanks for the clarification. :)
They had memes in the 60's? Wow I bet back then a smartphone was the size of a Plymouth!

C'mon, dude.
Give the guy a break.
We can't all be fascinating intellectual giants all the time.
Looking at his threads so far (ok, maybe not this one:D) there's been what seem like valid requests for help and information.
Sure, you've been here since forever and have no doubt seen it all, but there's no need to stomp on the OP like that.

The OP asked a question that is answered in the rules, which you must read and agree to before you make a single thread, or 16. I assumed he’s a banned member that’s back trolling. If he’s not, the question is a bit baffling given the above.

Either way, thanks for the lecture. ;)

Yes...

You can swear to purchase every bass, amp, and pedal you ever even considered the least bit cool...

You can swear to encourage others to do the same...

You can swear that with any given issue your band ever has you immediately fire the drummer...

You can swear cover every inch of your gear, car, and home with tortoise shell pickguard...

And you MUST swear your devotion to the greatest of vegetables, the carrot...

;)

You will find this to be one of the "cleaner" forums. Stay away from politics and religion. Don't use the "high ranking" bad language.
Agreed, politics and religion are topics that have been behind wars. Musician should talk about music and musical instruments and of course sex. Everyone enjoys getting laid and especially musicians with our many, many ten’s of thousands of love songs and our broken heart music too. Being said, screw you, everyone!

Why would you simply assume that the OP was banned, as opposed to asking first? And I'll admit to not having read the rules when I joined. I just use common sense.

Boy did we ever. The place was crawling with them. Big as sea lions they was! Just as soon bite your head off as look at you too. ;)

As far as smartphones go you’d have to wait until decades later. You'd first have to get through the having a CB radio in your car fad. That was all the rage for awhile. Then it was getting a pager. (Those were small enough.) Then a portable phone. (Big.) Then a mobile or “cell” phone. (Smaller but still pretty clunky.) Those were all basically just phones although a few had rudimentary PDA features like a calculator, memo pad and calendar built in. (Anybody remember PDAs like the Apple Newton or Palm Computing’s PalmPilot?)

But the first real smartphone had to wait until Christmas 1999 when Ericsson finally released a very basic one. However, it wasn't until the advent of the RIM BlackBerry, and later the iPhone, that things really got small and finally took off. But we were well into the millenium before that happened.
