Cannabis

on a side note:

i used to play drums in a pretty good heavy metal band when i was about 19. some band members (...) got VERY stoned one day after we'd just recorded our demo.

we had to take the lead guitarist outside to the garden during the playback of his solo, because he became too excited.

:D :bassist:

Mildly OT:
In one of life's weirder coincidences, I just got a letter from my old drummer, who moved out to Colorado last year. Weird, because not only do we keep in fairly regular contact (I've known this dude for longer than I can remember), but because it was out of the blue.

It begins... "Hey, So I wanted to show you what legal marijuana is like..."
(keep in mind, this guy doesn't smoke--he's a serious cyclist, so anything smoked is a no go.)

And its a massive amount of clippings & ads, allegedly pulled from one newspaper, for "medical services." There's also a receipt for two grams... $30.

One ad has coupons, to the tune of "free edible with any purchase," "free joint with any $50 purchase," etc. This same ad offers "a large range of high quality $45 1/8ths."

The black market, in addition to being an altogether undesirable bunch of people, has nothing on this, either price-wise or in consistency.

I dislike pot because of its social effects on people that I've conversed with. A lot of people I've seen/known smoking the stuff never failed to look slowed down, unable to hold a thought/conversation, or be totally unable to work on music with me during and after a "high". given the reasons I hear people do it (mostly social, anxiety, etc) I look at as a "low".

I realized just how much of a low it was when I got to see how pathetic my college roommate looked after I took him to a simple house party and he passed out underneath a table.

^^^ It affects everyone differently, I know people who get really chatty and giggly after smoking. Sometimes I'll be talkative, and sometimes I'll be socially anxious. Typically a few beers beforehand makes me more social.

As far as music, I think smoking before a gig or practice is disrepectful and unproductive. Pot is useful for generating cool improv and musical ideas to be arranged in a song at a later, more sober date.

The Medicinal Marijuana industry is absolutely booming out here to say the least.

just watched "The Union" it was very convincing

I can't believe that COFFEE was found to be more addicting then weed.

Knowing many regular pot users who are not even the slightest bit addicted, as well as many frequent coffee drinkers who are to a VERY surprising extent addicted (several of them gave it up for lent and experienced some pretty bad withdrawals for the first few days), this doesn't surprise me in the least.

If booze or tobacco were invented today, there is no POSSIBLE way that either would be legalized. Both have been responsible for more disease, death and brutality than most other substances on the planet.

Booze is a gateway drug to more booze. That's not arguable - millions of people prove it every year.

I've never been convinced that pot is as "bad" as booze, much less worse. I'm pleased to see that the trend is toward legalization and I expect that to happen in the next decade or so.

yeah, i'd say it's WAY more surprising that people don't know things like this that should be pretty obvious/self evident.

Only if you sell your homebrew. Then they'll not only tax you but they'll put you in jail.

Ah, but can you not get a certain license/permit that will allow you to sell to distributors? If youve got a good product why would you not think about turning your Homebrew into a Local Brew? With your medicinal card you can legally grow it, with a collective card you can sell it to 'pharmancies'.

Sounds like he's in California! To the teee! :p

yea...........that heroin.......thats child's play. :D

:scowl:

As far as the physical effects that *just the drug* does to one's body - the toxicity of alcohol and nicotine, they far surpass heroin, which in itself (not counting a lifestyle change that comes from heavy abuse and severe focal shift *to* heroin in hardcore users) is not as extreme as many many many other substances.
