Yeah I'm pretty open minded on most subjects, I was just being particularly curious about this one. For the record I've never smoked pot or take any type of drugs or smoked anything but cigars (rarely).
The thing is that The Union seemed just too good to be true, that's why I kind of started this thread.
Meh I believe social drinking and some other forms of self medication can benefit you socially, psycologically, and philosophically if used correctly. If abused, they can be harmful and I think finding the line between moderation and abuse would be much easier if certain substances were legal. I'm still surprised by people who haven't learned their tolerances for alcohol and hurt themselves consequently.
I think that those statements contradict each other.
They do, addicts that OD and die on accident didn't necessarily want to kill themselves. They just wanted to get high.
While I am a firm believer in personal responsibility, this is an interesting premise in that (for example) alcoholics sometimes cannot always successfully deal with it themselves, and thus the existence of AA, etc.Making these things illegal does nothing more than make it convenient to remove these people from normal society so we don't have to deal with or think about how to really help them .
