Carvin's BX1500 and B2000

I have no string noise problem at all and I use mostly new SS strings and new nickles consistently. I have read in this thread that the B1500 issues in this area for many users have been eliminated with the improvements of the B2000.

I think that there are also other factors involved when it comes to string noise. That being said, the B2000 does not have the string noise issue that the B1500 had IME/IMO.

Whoever has the B2000. Do you get any string noise? Like fret noise? I cant explain it but I think you know what I mean. String/slide noise is like my biggest pet pev and I believe that people said the B1500 had some. So does the 2000? Thanks

That was something I posted about when I first got my BX1200. Compared to the Peavey Pro Bass 500 I had been using, it seemed like the string/slide noise was too loud. At first, I cut the frequencies at 1kHz, and that helped. Since then, perhaps I've cleaned up my fretting hand technique a bit...

String noise is easy enough to dial out given the 6 band EQ on the big Carvin B series, IMO. Even easier with the graphic EQ on the BX, I supposed.

FYI, I only have the B1500 and haven't even tried the B2000, however the B1500 is supposed to be more "problematic" with string noise than the B2000.

have you bridged it into 4 ohms yet? Just wondering if it gets hot to the touch.

No, I have no need to do that. It would be way too much power for my 112 stack and I usually use this amp with my 15/6 which is 8 ohm. Personally, I'd be a little hesitant at bridging at 4 ohms, but thats just me being cautious.

My BX1500 came in Thursday and I gigged with it last night. I have it teamed up with a BRX4.10NEO. EVERYONE from the sound guy to the other bands we played with to random people complimented my sound and clarity. We play in C and even though I was DIed, the sound guy turned my mix down, jumped on stage and turned my head up. He said he has never seen such a small rig fill his club up they way my Carvin rig did. It is worth the money and I fully support Carvin and their equipment. I ordered their stuff by looking at the price and reading reviews. I was scared as hell to have spent that money unheard. IT IS THE BEST GAMBLE I'VE EVER MADE!!!!

The head they were going to send me failed their pre shipping test. They shipped me the first one out of their next batch and that was shipped out on the 27th. So I would think that your should be on the way.

Another successful gig last night with my bx1500 & 15/6. What was different about this one is that I actually had a soundman and PA support for bass (out of about 5 gigs). Soundguy reported no problems taking the DI directly from the BX1500.

This place was difficult acoustically. Very high brick walls, wood floors and 20ft ceilings (or more). The stage was plywood stacked on milkcrates.... about 3 ft off the ground. Even with the guitar & drums cranking pretty good I could hear myself quite well.

I'm getting to the point where I am thinking of leaving my backup amp at home.

I brought a back up being that I had my BX1500 for a day before gigging it. I'm still getting phone calls and posts on facebook about how good my rig sounded. I'm so glad I chose Carvin. My only complaint is that they could've sent me a hat or T shirt.
