Why can't people get this right? I heard a soldier say it wrong. It's an insult to the US Army horse troops. It's like calling Dennis, Denise.

Growing up in the south, it is really hard to distinguish the differences with my ears based on the local accents.

These days, if something gets used incorrectly long enough & by a lot of people, it gets added.

But why ink pen? Usually the context would be clear enough that there would be no confusing it with, say, a pig pen. Just pen for me. It's like tuna fish. Is there a tuna cat or something?

I was in a professional environment one time where the instructor kept saying AXE instead of Ask. I asked him every time to repeat himself, until he finally avoided using the word.

(Leonhard) Euler is pronounced "oy-ler," not "yoo-ler." I don't mind the butchering of the name when someone else says it, but it is annoying when I say it correctly, and people don't know who I am talking about.
