well, finally got some pics, sadly none really from our set, one of me on guitar for a song but no bass pics yet. The ones I got were from when our guitar player, 2 singers and I jumped on stage to play with the closing band, they played reinventing axl rose, so we ran up and sang along.

I'm the guy in the yellow aquabats shirt, our guitar player is in the blue shirt, and the singers are the girls that are right behind me

Jimmy Lee James Band gig went great on Sat. - Drummer showed up drunk, 20 minutes after we were supposed to start, with numerous drunk ladies following close behind. We sounded good for not having played together in a month.
The Hot Moms were our solid gold dancers, our last set ran 90 minutes, got paid, free drinks, and a few ladies were grinding on the bass player.
Then I got up 4 hours after getting home at 3am and went to work for 9 hours. Pretty typical.

ok gigs over and guess what ... we didnt get to play....hmmmm. why? well the club owners suddenly stopped us as we were climbing up the stage and said times up (3 bands had played before us) ... well as some of my friends had come over to watch us we decided to stay back and enjoy a few drinks... as soon as the sound people cleared up the stage area, the reason for the management people saying its late became clear... there was this BELLY DANCER from RUSSIA (russian belly dancers ??) and she was getting late hmmmm talk about being laid off... she was hot though (the only consolation)

We have the first show we've had in a long time, tonight. We have not even rehearsed in weeks. Our lead singer/writer/guitarist has decided to go back to school, while working a full-time day job. So...very few gigs. Too bad. We will be on tv on the 19th, for a live music feature that the local news does every morning. We will get a lot of work out of that appearance, that we won't be taking because of the singer. No bueno.

I think, tonight, since we are no longer tight and have not rehearsed, that I will bring along a little bottle of Knob Creek, or some Jack. May as well party, since I don't expect we'll do very well. Its the hometown crowd. If we suck, I can still hang with my friends.

Be careful there! That was my attitude 2 months ago, and I, and only I, sucked. Didn't sleep the night before, didn't feel good, drank too much, had rig problems for the first time ever, and was distracted by inviting too many friends.

Tonight is our first gig since then, so I plan to keep my head straight at least for the first 2 sets. At least 10 of the fans I emailed are coming, so I guess I'll be busy again tonight.

It worked out fine. When I bring a bottle, its to share, not all for me. (Its a beer bar...you bring your own liquor.) You know the smallest bottle at the liquor store? That's the one I buy. I only had two shots, shared with some friends, and put it away. I'm old enough to know better than to get trashed. I also got a real good nap before going out. My sitter's mom (an old bandmate) fed me chicken fajita tacos, so I was fueled up and ready. :)

This was our neighborhood bar. Best, most faithful crowd ever, man. There are often distractions...its a biker bar, and a lot goes on. But these are our friends and neighbors, and we feel brave with them. They expect us to play on the edge for them, anyway. They've heard our "standards" a jillion times, and while they have their favorites, they enjoy it when we take risks. Really wonderful crowd.

The bit of "5 o'clock courage" did me good, actually. I know the singer's bored with the set...I am, too. So anyway, she called out a lot of songs we either don't know well, or don't know at all. Figured since we weren't practiced, and we were "at home", so to speak, we could afford to stretch ourselves. Lots of flying by the seat of our pants, having other musicians come up and play with us...it was a lot of fun.

I felt very relaxed and positive, and played a great gig. My teacher was there, as well as the bass and drums from a locally-well-known hard rock band, and other assorted bass brothers. (Out of any crowd in this venue, you can take a random four people and make a band, so many musicians hang there...LOL!)

Teacher said he could tell I was already applying what I'd learned, and knows he'll see great improvement when he comes back off the road. The other guys all asked me, "What did you do? What happened? What technique are you using to improve so much, so fast? I can tell you've been working!"

Didn't make much money, but boy-howdy, we had a blast!

I hope your rig problems didn't come up again. I hate it when that happens. Did the ten people show up and leave tips? :):bassist:

Had our band's second gig Saturday night at a local dive bar. Went well, considering our old drummer quit a week ago, and the new guy (an old friend, and excellent musician) had 5 days and three rehearsals to learn the 7 song set. I'm the guy with the late 80s era white EBMM Sabre.
