Our first paying gig is tonight at what is probably the only traditional-style roadhouse in that area. I've never been there but they say it's full of drunken truckers and cougars.Will let you all know how it went.
Well the place was dead, never more than 20 people in there and most of them were watching TV at the bar. The handful of people who paid attention to us thought we were great and the staff said we did a good job. There was one drunk dude who danced by himself all night, he had a great time! I think because it's a holiday weekend in Canada a lot of people left town. We played well, the drummer and I were tight and the singer belted them out real good. It was the first real test of our amps and PA and all went well. There were a few little screw-ups here and there, nothing bad. Don't know if we'll be back. It's supposed to be a rock bar and they have bands every Friday and Saturday but it doesn't look like there is much of a scene going on.
There was also a herd of kids under 12 in front of us, and I kept waiting for hippie dude to mow some of them down, but somehow he never did. He was actually pretty athletic, especially for a guy self-labeled as blitzed. He told us he wants to hire us for a party... how crazy would he get at his own party? It boggles the mind. We better bring our own security! 
The PA is my main concern, but my sister's boyfriend, who is a professional soundman is coming down to watch us, so if he spots anything drastically wrong he'll let me know. as far as setting up is concerned, it'll be me with a long lead, playing from the floor infront of the stage listening to how we sound to get an idea of levels...
